I haveee a small headcanon! about sushi, but it does include non-consensual body modifications and kinda gross so it will be under that little line whatever it's called

So! Her tail, it's metal, but to be honest we don't know if the lab cut it off and stuck a new one or if it's just metal plates. I headcanon it as metal plates because one: cutting of someone's tail just to give them a new one is a little too fucked up, even for the lab, two: i love angst and that has potential. So I roughly know how welding works cause my dad does gates on the side and will weld everything he can just not to hire anyone else. Listen, there is a reason why you wear a mask you can barely see through while welding, it's incredibly bright and a tiny spark can seriously damage your sight. Why am I talking about welding you may ask? Amazing question, I also happen to headcanon that the metal plates are mostly welded to Sushi's tail, I mentioned that in my fic. I don't care that you can't really weld metal to skin, we can play pretend.

Another thing about welding, it's quite literally melting metal to the point of being able to join pieces togheter. So, incredibly painful if someone would put that hot metal to your skin for a few seconds. Having that metal be stuck to you? Agony. Maybe the lab was at least merciful enough to allow Sushi not to be awake for the procedure. Another thing about metal, heavy, so in conclusion it makes her tail a lot heavier. My fricking backpack is difficult to wear for half an hour it takes me to get to school, imagine HEAVY HEAVY METAL being stuck to your back 24/7. So I also headcanon that Sushi is now slower than average sharkfolk, but the rest of the Kaloscope cast doesn't notice because they're not sharkfolk and they don't know how fast average sharkfolk is. Even if somehow Sushi wouldn't be stuck with those metal plates anymore, it would scar horribly. So yeah, kinda fucked up.

Sushi missed a lot about her home back in the ocean, her family was back there, she knew the terrain, it was a boring normality she wished she could return to. She missed the way she looked back then too.
