Hayden’s eyes were watching the two children run around the yard from the inside of the house as she sat on the couch with Emmett. The kids were over for a ‘playdate’, giving the adults time to their selves while not having to drop the kids off with someone. Taking his hand in hers, the woman ran her fingers over his knuckle gently.  “Think they’re suspicious yet? Ana’s noticed that she’s seeing Caleb more often.”

A shopping list in one hand and her bags in another, Hayden scanned over the words quickly before glancing over at Emmett who was looking almost at ease- which she didn’t know why. Christmas shopping was utter hell for her. “What are you getting your son? Ana wants all these things and I have no idea where to find any of it,”  she complained, clipping her hair up in stress and forcing her bangs out of her face.

The only one person that Hayden was comfortable with taking as her ‘plus one’ was Emmett and even then, it was going to be awkward. Her coworkers would probably pester her with questions about her new ‘boyfriend’ or whatever other nosy questions she had. Unfortunately for her, she had to go because of her position and she wasn’t going to go alone so picking up Emmett on her way over was full of her telling him the rules for the night. If anything, she was more nervous than anything.

Once they got there, they were greeted by her bosses who she skillfully avoided sitting with and instead head inside to the hall. On their way through the doors, a server in an overly spirited elf dress alerted them of the mistletoe hanging above their head. Making sure they were passing one over on them, Hayden sighed when she saw that it was there before pulling him into her with slight forced and pressing her lips against his. Maybe it was going to be a good night afterall?
