It had been a little over a week since their return from the ranch, laden with useful supplies and emotional baggage, the former of which the community was beyond grateful for. The latter, well, most people weren't privy to that knowledge.
Cass hadn't really been avoiding Isaac, but their paths hadn't really crossed, either, nor had she gone out of her way to make them so. At least, not until today. Time had given her a chance to sort through her feelings, and while she wouldn't consider herself at all on stable ground, mentally or emotionally, she was doing well enough. All things considered.
"Hey, thought I saw you out here," she said, propping one foot up on the fence of the enclosure Loretta was in, smiling at the way the donkey ate up every ounce of attention that Ike so willingly gave her. He seemed to be moving fairly well, but he also was the type who would ignore an injury to get a job done.
