Home Tour: The Bedroom
Not to get too close too fast, but today we're looking at the bedroom. It's the first room off the hallway when you walk in, so that means we can hear our neighbors entering their apartments every night. Talk about intimate.
But here we go.
It's tiny. Here's the view from the door. The great joy of our apartment is that nothing is level. The slope of this shot isn't the camera - it's the floor. I'm sure it helps our blood flow at night. And check out the window! That angle loves playing havoc with my OCD.
Everything is from IKEA, except for several lovely summer blankets we got for our wedding. We love the bright colors against the white.
This is how narrow the room is. And this is the creepy apartment back door at the foot of our bed. As my husband has pointed out, if anyone tried to come in we could just kick them out.
Ceiling lights are also a limited thing. It's rare to have them already installed when you move in.
Our apartment has NO CLOSETS. We had to get wardrobes and chest of drawers. The bed has drawers for storage and the headboard has little nooks. The plan is to hang some wall-mounted clothing rods above our drawers for extra hanging space. Hopefully our wardrobe will add a little more color.
Growing up in the land of southern mansions, crown molding, 10-12ft. ceilings, baseboards, and, well, closets, the sterile walls of Danish apartments were a bit of a shock. But as we nestle in more and more, the walls get a little warmer, dust softens the sterility and even a bit of laundry on the floor reminds us that we're home.
