In "Il suggeritore" what was the scariest moment for you ?
«No… » ripeté la bambina con calma. «Lui lo chiamava Frankie.»

Jokes aside, I don’t remember the book very well because I read it like 7-8 years ago, but I found particularly scary the idea of somebody able to manipulate people’s unconscious to make them commit murders, and also the way the girls were snatched. (fun story: at the time, I used to go to school alone, by bike. When I read the book it was autumn, just before switching to daylight saving time, so when I got out in the morning it was still dark. I have to admit that those mornings weren’t fun…)
Actually, I think the whole book is scary, because I find Carrisi a very talented narrator, he manages to create an atmosphere that is very unsettling, it made me feel somehow uneasy for the whole book.
But that ending… something that I usually find in thrillers is that, for how scary they might be, when everything is solved you can breathe again, and push everything behind you. That book looked like that, too. And then… that line. And suddenly you’re reconsidering everything and it’s one hundred times scarier.

Finalmente si era sentita sollevata. Non appagata, ma sollevata sì! Non poteva farci niente: il suo corpo era entrato in , come capita a certi apparecchi elettronici quando c'è un sovraccarico e devono preservare i propri circuiti. Quel dottore le aveva anche detto che ci sono persone che, in un dato momento della loro esistenza, provano molto dolore, troppo, molto più di quanto possa tollerarne un essere umano in tutta la vita. E a quel punto, o cessano di vivere, o sono ormai assuefatte.

C'è sempre un momento in cui, a forza di procedere e di guardare solo avanti, si percepisce qualcosa - un richiamo - e ci si volta un poco per vedere se laggiù ogni cosa è rimasta uguale, o se invece è cambiato qualcosa in chi ci siamo lasciati alle spalle, e in noi.
