Jonas Wettre, Once There Were Polaroids Book launch, talk and party: 3 May, 5 pm, at the art book store Konst-ig, Åsögatan 124, Stockholm.
Once There Were Polaroids: a photo book based on Jonas Wettre’s personal encounters with the world’s most accomplished photographers during his ten years working at the legendary art and photo book publisher Steidl in Göttingen, Germany.
Wettre’s unconventional portraits of among others Robert Frank, Dayanita Singh, Keanu Reeves, Juergen Teller, Günter Grass, Boris Mikhailov, Lou Reed, Mikael Jansson, Ed Ruscha and Jeff Wall, give a unique insight into book production at “Steidlville” with Gerhard Steidl and Polaroid as their subject.
The evening’s conversation with Jonas Wettre (beginning at 5 pm) will be led by Clemens Poellinger, art critic at the Svenska Dagbladet newspaper. Also participating are Mikael Olsson (Södrakull Frösakull, Steidl, 2011) and Maria Miesenberger (Sverige/Schweden, Steidl, 2011).
Books can be signed during the event.
At 7 pm Wettre’s exhibition “Once There Were Polaroids” opens at ilcaffé at Södermannagatan 23, where photographs from the book will be on display.
