in norwegian, volunteers are often referred to as "ildsjel(er)", literally 'fire soul', refering to the burning passion they have for their projects.

and i think about that, and about how fire is difficult to control, and can cause harm, and how i get so fired up that i overstep my boundaries

and sometimes when doing volunteer work i feel like i am a cat offering my owners dead mice as a sign of my love. i do something with all the right intentions, but to my superiors its actually just a big hassle to clean up.
