Each slat was milled, cut to shape, and assembled carefully from reclaimed, maple, library shelving to make this modern coffee table. I ended up finishing it with a mixture of beeswax and mineral oil and it looks fantastic! The first things I ever built to sell were these bracelets made out of rulers. With a chunk of baseball bat, a torch, and a mallet, I would shape about 20-30 at a time. . I’d fill my pockets with the jangly aluminum hoops and head out into the city, mostly to the bars, and sell them for 30 bucks a pop. 20 for friends and bartenders. . I didn’t make a lot of money, but it was usually enough to have a good time and take a few bucks home with me. . That was my hustle for a while. The way I had to live so that I could live the way I had to.
