30 Day Challenge “Day 8″

Day 8 – Warrior Poet

               Standing at Bao’s front door was someone selling cookies in extravagant formal wear.  “We don’t want cookies,” Alexander says.

               “Awww, come on!  They’re sweet and yummy and everyone loves cookies!”  As she speaks, her eyes scan what she can see inside the house.  “You didn’t even ask that pretty lady is she wanted one!”

               “She doesn’t get a say in this,” he says.

               “Aww, that’s no way to talk to your… girlfriend?” she responds.

               “She’s my cousin,” he says while squinting.

               “She could still be your girlfriend…” she mutters under her breath.   “Aww, come on! I bet she really wants one!”

               “Even if she did, she’s not allowed to.  She’s busy working right now.”

               “You hired your cousin?” she asks.  “And you made her wear that…?” she whispers.  

               “We’re both employees here,” he tells her, taking his arms out of their crossed position and using one to hold onto the door frame.

               She slides through the gap between him and the frame. “Well then, you should go find him and ask if he wants cookies!”  She walks into the kitchen and sits on a stool next to the island. “I’ll set them up here so he can see them all.”

               As she begins to unpack her satchel full of boxes of cookies, Alexander speaks up.  “Okay, you need to leave now.  You are trespassing and I will not hesitate to use force on you because of your age.”

               She scans the countertop, sees a paper, and picks it up.  “Oooh, what is this? It’s uh… something… foreign!”

               Alexander walks to the island and takes the paper.  “This… ah, yes.  It’s some of my poetry.  I wrote it in Cree.  Would you like to hear a translation of it?”

               “Oh, I’d love to!” she squeals.

               “Very well… ‘I am no man of violence/ I believe words resolve more than we know/ Nevertheless, I cannot contain/ The excitement I feel when I crush the skull of my enemy.’  It’s not my best piece.  But it’s one of my most sincere.”

               She stares at him for a few moments with a faint smile on her face before packing up her satchel and walking out.  “Thank you for your time,” she speaks while fleeing the household.

SAME THO. I literally spent an hour knitting a headband (which is not a long time for me) and was basically like "fuck it lol you cant see the ends anyway"
