Thanks for the Blanket Chapter 2
(Very) Slow Burn, fluff, awkward, somewhat “modern-day” College AU, Aaron Hotchner x FEM Reader The next few days were certainly awkward, more so than just adjusting to a new room mate, but one you certainly weren’t comfortable with yet, and you didn’t much imagine it would get better. No, you had resigned yourself to just keeping your distance, and since you had such a stuffed busy schedule between classes and work, you imagined you wouldn’t be bumping into Aaron much.
You couldn’t be more wrong.
You quite literally bumped into him as you went to leave for class one week from the day you first met him. You were heading out your bedroom towards the door, head down checking your schedule when you bumped into him headfirst. “Oh! God, I’m sorry, I just don’t want to be late to my first class.” You apologized, suddenly realizing just how much he towered over you. That sure didn’t help you be less skittish, not to mention you were on edge as is about going to your first ever college class. “Oh, don’t worry. I was just leaving for my classes too.” and he held the door for you. You thanked him, and headed off towards your car, leaving him to lock the door.
Your first class went without a hitch, most of your three classes that day doing pretty smoothly. They were mostly just going over what to expect, defining the course and reading syllabuses until your last class of the day, which was late afternoon, when you spotted that head of dark hair down two desks from your own. He looked up, taking in who his classmates were, and you made eye contact. “Oh, hey! Nice to see I won’t be alone here,” He said down to you, and you could only respond with a small “yeah,” before one of the people separating you two asked “Oh, you know her? Do you want me to move?” and before you knew it, he was sitting directly to your right. “Hey,” he said again to you. “I know you’re not quite comfortable yet, but maybe working on our homework together could help that out, but I would have never asked that guy to move, he was out of his seat before I could say no.” You did like the idea of having someone to help with homework just across the kitchen from you, and your two experiences with him today had made you, if slightly, more comfortable with him. “Yeah, that could be pretty nice.” You answered, and before you could say more, the professor had walked in, calling everyone’s attention. You also couldn't help but keep glancing and trying to learn all you could about Aaron from the things he did during class. You did have to learn to be more observant if you were going to be in some sort of law enforcement, but you hadn’t fully decided just what yet. This teacher had no hesitation, and despite it being the first day, went right into a lecture. You noticed the way he had tabs ready for the different topics the teacher covered over the course, or how diligently he took his notes. You caught him once or twice taking glances at you as well. “Probably doing the same as I” you thought to yourself.
When class ended, you walked out together, and discussed your thoughts for the class and the teacher. “What guy launches a full lecture on the first day?” You asked. “I knew they said these classes wouldn’t be easy, so I guess I’ll have to learn to expect that,” Aaron responded with a smile. “Yeah, I heard criminology is no joke either. What are you going into?” you asked, You figured maybe just a little of revealing yourself wouldn’t be so bad. You were stuck with him as your roommate, as un-excited about the fact as you were, it was still a fact. “What? No way!” He exclaimed, brown eyes wide in surprise. “What?” you asked, with him exclaiming yet again “No way! I’m taking criminology too! With a minor in English.” That wasn’t something you were expecting, and as you two walked to your car, as much as you wanted to stay reserved, you couldn’t help getting into what was a surprisingly easy and enjoyable conversation about your shared majors, and you found yourself standing outside your car still talking as the time ticked away. Only when he checked his watch and realized you both were going to miss the trash pickup time and be stuck with it until the next pickup, which wasn't for days, that you hopped in your car and headed back to your shared apartment, agreeing you could talk more with Aaron then.
