“I told you, remember to keep your knees bent and your hips down.”
Antonio Chevalier stood up for his seat, having been watching his wife train his son for several hours now. “Dear,” he said slowly and cautiously, “don’t you think that’s enough?”
Cadice shot her husband what could only be described as a look, as their son, Clovis, was nearly keeling over from exhaustion. It had been years since the…incident, and the training Cadice had forced upon Clovis had only gotten tougher over time. First, it had just been semblance control. That one hadn’t been so hard, just...frustrating, and tedious, and painfully slow. But now, with combat training, Clovis was sure he was going to die every single time he even saw his mother.
At her silence, Antonio continued. “The sun’s setting, too. Let’s all go in for dinner, yeah?”
“The Grimm won’t care about all that,” Cadice sneered. “He hasn’t yet–”
“And he won’t, at this rate,” Antonio brazenly interrupted. “Just look at him, he’s about to throw up!”
Clovis felt his stomach drop even further as his parents started to bicker. Oh, how he wished he had even a drop of strength left, to get them to stop, or to run away, or…anything but this! It felt as if ever since he’d started training under his mom, his parents had started arguing. The intensity of their fights had gotten worse over time, too. It hadn’t been like this before. It was most definitely his fault. If only he was stronger…!
“Your fighting styles are too different, why don’t you at least send him to someone who fights with their fists?”
“I know what I’m doing! I have plenty of co-workers who fight using fisticuffs, and all of them are protein-headed junkies who won’t shut up about their routines. I’ve read books, talked to people, and it’s not much different from what I do.”
“But that doesn’t mean you know what to do! You always say that theory is different from practice. Shotgun-tonfas are hardly the same as…as….boombox fists?”
“I know the difference between punching a target, and punching through a target. I know about footwork, stances, blocking, and when to trigger shots. Don’t patronize me.”
“One more time…”
“But your stances are both different, anyone can see that. I can see that.”
“It doesn’t matter, I’ll teach him!”
“One more time…!”
“You can’t possibly teach him things you don’t have a full understanding of!”
“Fine! Maybe I can’t! But I can at least train him to be ready for combat school!”
“One more time!!!”
Antonio and Cadice snapped their heads over to their son, finding his voice suddenly and abnormally loud. Clovis glared at them both with determination and desperation, body burning as he moved himself into a ready position. His shirt and hair clung to his skin uncomfortably, and his gauntlets just felt like lead weights at this point.
But anything to keep his parents from fighting more.
Cadice moved towards her son, slamming her tonfas together to create a bo staff. “You see?” she smirked victoriously at her husband, “He wants this.”
Clovis readied himself to block another strike, willing his knees to not give out on him.
stitches, eau de toilette, murmur, and hiccup for zemar!
Stitches - What kind of clothing do you wear?
Clothing that is open and breezy, that I can enjoy. Though the uniform isn’t all too bad after adjustments have been made to the trousers.
Eau de toilette - What is you favorite scent?
It is a scent that I cannot correctly place. But it is the scent of home, it wasn’t much but it was ours and it had meaning.
Murmur - How do you deal with drama?
With a cool head.
Hiccup - What makes you nervous?
... The idea I don’t have anything under control anymore and it is slipping through my fingers. That thought makes me nervous. Aside that... A few more things. Jibber jabber...
Honey, Tiger, Treasure, Hiccup for Clovis annnnnnd Mary, Whiskey, Anomaly, Cedar for Alex!
Clovis
Honey - Do you have a nickname?
Clovis: I’ve heard Clov and Vis before. Someone may have called me Clover, I’m not quite sure.
Tiger - What is your bravest moment?
Clovis: Uhm…I’m….not sure. I’d say it was the time my team and I fought that big Grimm on launch day, but…I dunno. It didn’t feel that big. Especially considering there are still more Grimm out there…
Treasure - What is your brightest characteristic?
Clovis: E-eh? You’re asking me? Er…I…..I don’t know. I’ve been told I can be awfully loyal and strong-willed when I want to be, I guess. Just….whatever it is that Headmaster Sycamore saw in me that convinced him to make me the leader of Team Cosmic, it’s probably that. And I will do my best not to disappoint him.
Hiccup - What makes you nervous?
Clovis: ….Lots of things, I guess. Fighting is one of them. One bad slip-up, and I or my teammates could get really hurt. Not to mention we’re fighting for more than just to win a battle. There’s…a lot.
Alex
Mary - Are you a virgin?
Alex: I believe I already answered this one, sorry~
Whisky - Do you drink alone or socially?
Alex: Socially. I don’t like to bother drinking alone, unless I’m horribly stressed out. And even then, I’d prefer to do it with pleasant company.
Anomaly - What do you find unique about yourself?
Alex: Heh. Many things. The sheer fact that I am who I am is unique, in and of itself. …I’m also fairly certain there’s no one else out there who calls themselves the White Phantom in combat, haha!
Cedar - What is your favorite season?
Alex: Hmm….I think I’d have to say Fall. Not too cold, and not too hot. Even I can get chilly sometimes, and as nice as winter is, I don’t like being outside in it.
yeah!! um.. well everyone calls my tilly which already IS a nickname, haha! idk i prefer it, you know when they have those preferred name sheets? yeah i put it there but its technically a nickname ha h a..

The weather had been hot enough the last couple of days, he would admit that to himself as he walked on, licking the last of his ice lolly away, chomping on the ice and eating it as if it were just some simple meal. Ice never had bothered him much after his evolution, big surprise. Though he had rather evolved in something more fitting to the desert, he would have to admit that in the end of it all...
He didn’t mind it all too much.
His lips curved upward for a mere moment before he took the last of the ice lolly and chewed on it, flicking the remaining stick in a nearby trash bin before walking forward.
Only to stop when odd eyes had found himself being greeted by a very unusual sight.
“What the--?” he uttered, one ear flicking to the side for a moment before going back up as he stared at the poppies. It took several of seconds before he looked around curiously, wondering if he was missing something. Those flowers hadn’t been growing there the day before, he would have known, he walked by here daily when taking a little stroll.
Hesitant, he reached a hand back to rub over his neck, keeping odd hues fixed on the poppies. Until finally he brushed away the thought that whispered in the back of his mind, quickly making way to the little patch of poppies and sprawling down on the ground, stretching his arms out above him and releasing a noise that sounded much like the purring of a cat, eyes closing halfly.
He was content.
Poppies grew plentiful in Orre, and he had not seen them yet since he had arrived here... But he had to admit, seeing them here out of the blue... Oh, it definitely brought a laugh upon his face.
Fingertips brushed over the petals as the fox tilted his head back a bit, gazing at the flowers that stood so proudly.
Mayu: I think he's really cool! I'm glad Melody introduced me. It's good to have some allies in a school full of... Not... Allies. I wish he had been on a team with me.
I think the way the students treated him is so unfair. And terrifying.
