“Beck, I would’ve thought by now you would’ve at least picked up a magic’s guide book or found yourself in the nearest kiddie magic toy shop to put forth at least a little bit more effort than this.” Zatanna took a seat, leaning casually back to rest comfortably while giving Beck an unimpressed look. She knew that many people had their own ideas about magic and how to use it and bring in the “illusion” to life. Beck just so happened to choose a different route than taking the time to actually learn properly. The ‘technological’ route. Zatanna understood that completely even if she thought in her mind, it was a total cop out and lazy way of doing things, letting technology take all the credit, but never the less, she was witness as to how captivated his audience was and Zatanna couldn’t kick him for that. He really knew how to work a crowd over. And she could appreciate that herself.
Accepting the challenge, she rose from her seat and approached him slowly with a soft smirk. “Alright. Let’s see here.” Reaching into her jacket pocket, she pulled out a set of simple playing cards. “Here we go.” She opened them up and began shuffling them in only the best dramatic ways she could think of. “Now choose a card. Any card.” She offered the stack to Quentin, cards facing down and fanned out in her hands. She saw the unimpressed look on his face which only made her smile grow. He had no idea what he was in for. “Get over yourself Beck and just do what I’m asking. You wanted to see a magic trick didn’t you?” She waited patiently for him to choose one.
