Holy shit holy SHIT okay. I want to talk about this really fast because there is SO much information here.
1. The Illusion Head: While we’ve not really seen any of him(?) yet, his few appearances have been pretty memorable - while most of the Coven Heads wear neutral or even angry-looking expressions, he seems to be wearing a smug face most of the time. He’s likely leading the troops who are invading Hexside, and will probably be the main antagonist for at least most the episode - Gus will have to fight the Coven Head of his own magic.
2. Hunter: Hunter is coming to Hexside. Why? It could be a number of reasons - maybe he’s trying to find his friends and ask their advice, or to just be with him for a bit after ....... yknow. Hollow Mind. He could also be angry, perhaps? He is a teenager, after all, and a volatile one at that; maybe he sees the scouts on their way there and decides to come and help fight them. I think it’d be wonderful if he’s Gus’ “unlikely ally.”
3. Willow and Amity: Interestingly enough, while Hunter is heading towards Gus, these two seem to be heading away, perhaps to the Owl House? Maybe they’ve heard of the attack and are going to help out there, only Gus either gets stuck in Hexside or decides to stay on his own volition. Either way, I would absolutely love it if we could get an entire Willow and Amity B plot. That’d be amazing.
4. Final details: I do wonder about the Coven Guards in the top right and why they look a bit strange - they could be perhaps Eda and Lilith in disguises, although I’m not sure why they would come to Hexside. Perhaps the Illusion Head was already on his way to the school and Lilith & Eda simply got swept up in the march as well. Also, the background serves as a reminder that this is going to be an Illusionists’ battle: we’ve seen how much Gus can change on his own, and he’s probably going to be fighting his own Coven Head. This episode’s visuals are going to be insane.
