He knows, logically, that it’s not real. He’d been preparing himself for that when he was sure Spock was bringing him here. Yet, it feels like he’s standing. He can look down and see his legs beneath him. He can move and speak and the pain he knows must still be there is absent.
In the years since he last saw her, he’s been trying to find a way to do something for her, but it’s not until now that he feels he’s beginning to understand her. Beginning to understand what she’s been through.
He should have done more.
To even have these thoughts is dangerous. He knows that, too. “It’s... It takes some getting used to.”
