So we were all freaked out by this right?
But why did they put Ilnam in his player 001 outfit? Was it to show, like Inho, that the glitzed outfit as a whole was a mask, and the last time in his life he was truly happy was when he was part of the people, money didn't matter as long as he was happy with temporary friends just fighting to survive as a collective?
Look at my new friend! I'm so happy it's so cuute
“I wanted to just feel something.” – Oh Il-Nam (Squid Game)
All the people coming for Sangwoo should be coming for Ilnam instead, mans lied to everyone’s faces for the fun of it. Not at all excusing anything that Sangwoo did (ESPECIALLY NOT WHAT HE DID TO ALI) but his actions were very clearly a result of the circumstances. Everyone in that game fell victim to a very shitty circumstance (understatement). Hell even Deoksu and his group members that worked with the doctor. Everyone was doing what they thought would let them survive. Even Gihun tried betraying Ilnam to survive. None of us have ever been in that sort of situation before so it’s easy to judge. It’s annoying to see everyone acting all holier-than-thou. It’s not like Sangwoo and Gihun enjoyed betraying Ali and Ilnam. Not once did Sangwoo smile, he literally killed himself because he hated himself for what he did. He had remorse. Gihun had remorse when he was tricking Ilnam in marbles. But Ilnam did not. He was fucking with everyone’s lives for the FUN of it. He was the only one enjoying it. He was laughing throughout the whole thing. That is the textbook definition of sadism and that is why he is the only character I truly hate in this show. Don’t hate the player, hate the game. Or in this case, the person behind the game. Fuck you Ilnam I cried for you man what a waste of tears
This is so cute i can’t
Congratulations, well deserved ❤️🥳
Is it crazy that I'm jealous of Jimmy Fallon because he got to interview the Squid Game cast and I didn't? (Like I didnt have the opportunity either)

He doesn't even get that its a social commentary. He's just

NO
SPOILERS! Squid Game, why the twist at the end
I read a few reviews that were upset about the spoiler involving a certain old guy at the end of Squid Game. That it reversed an earlier pathos to the main characters sadness, that it took away that moment of self sacrifice that viewers found so compelling. Thinking about it, I think I know why the twist had to happen.
Squid Game is full of characters we like because they feel ‘real’, they feel real because they aren’t just placed in the narrative to act in their archetype. They contradict their ideals for survival, extreme situations force them to act in extreme ways, like what a real person would do. It was compelling to see the main character, who has been shown to be the emotional anchor, the man who acts emotionally and not always smartly (and certainly not with good self restraint) but will show heart and reach out to those around him. To see him trick an old main in that marble game was compelling to us. It is also the only time that he is shown to outright trick someone else- knowing that this will kill them. He just got lucky, clever, or was saved most of the other times. He can be dumb and irresponsible, but he isn’t a murderer in the other situations he is faced with.
In the denouement, when he is too depressed to take any action. His guilt is part of his paralysis. He is reflecting on what he has done. Il-nam’s reveal cleanses him of that guilt- and all that is left is anger. He realizes the extent to which he has been manipulated by a way too powerful system and is now able to act. It makes sense looking at it this way.
