When I worked at In-N-Out, we always had to call out our shake-only and fry-only orders and get them out to the guest as soon as possible. If someone ordered just a fry and a shake, you had to communicate it and make the shake while the fry person took care of the fry. There was a late night when I was the only order taker at the front line, and this group walks in. There must have been at least 10 people, and *all* of them wanted shakes and/or fries only. So, for the better of 10 minutes, I’m shouting at the kitchen “ONE FRY ONLY FOR HERE!” Or “ONE SHAKE ONLY!” whilst turning back and forth to make the shakes and grab the fries, myself.
