Zim’s star sign
I’ve always been interested in pairing characters with their star signs. Star signs are universal. They almost pre-date time in a way, and they pre-date us and all life. Then I gots to thinking; what star sign does Zim belong to? Seriously. It doesn’t matter if he’s human, animal or an insect. Star signs are applicable to all and can therefore even apply to an Irken, or anything with some kind of personality and intelligence.
So, first of all, let’s review the basics:
Zim is competitive. He hates to lose, hates failure above all else, and he is always trying to achieve, even if said achievement ends in less desirable ends. He likes to keep active, and is always busy doing something. He is not the sort to sit still and let things work themselves out, so he is dedicated in what he does regardless of how practical the invention or idea.
He is fierce, independent, defiant and very aggressive.
He has a sensitive side, but he tends to keep that so well hidden that you you’d never notice it unless you look hard for it.
He is also ambitious.
As for the cons, he is short-sighted, self-absorbent, destructive and violent. He has a self-compulsive obsession with how he does things. (Germs, and Hobo 13 are just two example episodes).
He is also a nervous individual who is plagued by fear and paranoia.
I went through each and every star sign. And we have come up with a winner:
Aries.
Its element is fire. The colour of this star sign is red.
Zim is a combatant that uses fire in his onslaught. As a lover of destruction and violence, he is no stranger to this element, and it in fact suits him down to the ground. He burns all he touches. And he is not afraid to get burnt himself.
The good Aries traits are:
Courageous, determined, confident, enthusiastic, optimistic , honest and passionate.
The bad Aries traits are:
Moody, impatient, short-tempered, impulsive, aggressive and stubborn.
Likes: Comfortable clothing, taking on leadership roles, being active, taking on physical challenges and being able to expand on their skills.
Dislikes:
Inactivity, sickness, delays, and work that does not value one’s talents.
As the first sign in the Zodiac, the presence of an Aries character marks the beginning of something energetic and turbulent. Zim mirrors this through and through. Like the Aries sign, he is dynamic, characterized by vigorous activity, Zim embodies speed and competition, and Zim, like the Aries star sign, is always the first in everything, from work to events, to competition and schemes and revenge.
Thanks to the ruling planet Mars and the fact that it belongs to the element of fire, Aries is one of the most active Zodiac signs. And does Zim ever truly rest?
Like the Aries sign, it is in Zim’s nature to take action, sometimes before they think about it.
They also vent their anger out at other people. Zim loves to rant, and will often shout his complaints to anyone who happens to be nearby, whether it be Gir, some stranger, or even Dib himself.
Aries rules the head, and leads with the head, often literally walking head first into danger: leaning forwards for speed and focus.
Zim is naturally brave when push comes to shove, and he is rarely afraid of trial and risk. He possesses youthful energy and strength. A lot of his personality is stemmed from his vicious indoctrination from the imperialistic nature of the Irkens. So his love of violence is owed more to his earlier days than of the star sign, but as a whole he shares the Aries trait, through and though.
