My name is Karla Acosta and I am 18 years old...19 in 4 days, but who´s counting? Saturday, January 21 to be exact.....
I was born in El Paso but raised in Cd.Juarez until I was in fifth grade. It did not take me long to adapt myself to a new school and a new language. I learned English pretty fast and did very well at school.
I graduated from Coronado High School this past June 2016. I can say that high school was pretty easy.... I say that now that I am in college. In HS I made really good friends who had been there for me since day one. I am the type of friend someone can trust and talk to if there is any problem. I never get in trouble. I am the type of person that likes to follow the rules… yes, I know it is kind of boring, but I truly believe there is a time and place for everything. My friends describe me as a sweet girl and as someone who is always smiling.
When my friends come to me to tell me a secret.....
Here are my friends and me at our graduation (I am the one in the middle). #welookcute
I am currently in my second semester at the University of Texas at El Paso and Pre- Nursing is my major. It took me a while to decide what I wanted to study for the rest of my life. For now, I do not plan on changing my mind. Some people tell me that it is really hard to get into the Nursing program, but that is not going to stop me from reaching my goals.
I am one of the coordinators of the confirmation group at the church of Todos los Santos in Cd. Juarez. It is truly not what everyone thinks it is. My church is all about loving and helping the ones that need it the most. I have been part of this community for almost 3 years now, and every minute has been worth it. When it is time to do community service (every Sunday) I give my service to the people and try to provide them with my advice, love and economical help. God has made me stronger in a way that I can focus more on how to make a change in the world; starting with myself and providing that testimony to the ones that surround me.That is one of the reasons why I choose Nursing as my major, I think I can do great things by helping others and providing them with my love and support.
My RWS class from last semester really taught me to enjoy reading and writing. That is why I am looking forward to this new semester, so can I learn new strategies and skills that can make me grow as a writer/reader and also improve my communication skills.
FUN FACT: I HAVE AN OBSESSION WITH KOALAS
I hope you enjoy their cuteness......
