#5 Mother Fears

Mother Fears I do not believe in Love

Mother Fears I’ll be left on a shelf

Mother Fears for my independence 

While she Fears me being too independent

Mother thinks dresses go better with a girl 

Well, I beg to differ

She Fears my lack of femininity

She Fears for my spirituality,

Hence, biased towards those who outrank me 

while shunning those closest to me. 

Mother Fears, for when she is gone, I’d be alone with no one to hold. 

Mother Fears, as all mothers do, to keep her child safe, no matter the age. 

Even on her death bed, I can see her crying not for leaving, but fearing, for her only child, me.
