Okay most of these are series of books but i’m counting that
wOW DO U EVEN HAVE TO ASK. YEAH IT’S LOTR (i kind of want to put all of Tolkien’s works as no.1 but that feels kinda like cheating)
The Amazing Maurice and His Educated Rodents- Terry Pratchett Again I could put Terry Pratchett’s entire discworld series here because they are fucking great but Amazing Maurice is probably the book i’ve read the most times like i read my hardback copy to death when i was a kid and i still read it every so often now it’s technically a children’s book but wow it’s great i get something different out of it everytime i read it
The Tiffany Aching series- Terry Pratchett (idk what it’s official title is) More Pratchett and more ‘young adult’ Pratchett but fuck I love Pratchett ok. But yes I love this series they’re brilliant I think Tiffany Aching was the character i saw myself in most when i was a kid i still do and like with Amazing Maurice (and tbh most Discworld books) i see something different every time i read it
The Parasol Protectorate trilogy- Gail Carriger These aren’t exactly as ‘deep’ as the other books in this list but it’s a brilliant series nonetheless and i’m always shocked they’re not more popular on tumblr. It a supernatural victorian comedy series, the main character is a genuiney interesting and complex woman, there’s a gay vampire who’s about the most camp character in anything ever, there’s a canon gay werewolf romance and idk they’re really fun to read and i love them
The Aubrey Maturin series- Patrick O’Brian Fuck man these are amazing, they’re beautifully written, the characters are perfect, they’re often hilarious and one of the books contains what might be my favourite scene in any book ever
ask me my top 5 anything!
