loads of spoilers warning:

basically his best friend murdered him with his own skateboard and left his body + his car in the woods. 7 years later he's like... a smudgy ghost and he has new friends who are also looking for the same thing his ex bestie was looking for at the time of his murder (his ex bestie is also still looking for said thing and is pissed they're looking for it too.) they going looking for said thing but they stumble upon his remains (+ student id card) instead and are like 'holy shit dudes dead' blah blah they confront him blah blah.. they all go back to the woods with noah this time and he's like super freaking out at this point bc he keeps relieving his death (like ptsd. he actually reenacts his death a lot) and he's slowly fading away from.. everything ("i was more when i was alive") but whatever lets get back on track..

ok so everyone is looking at his remains and being sad and shit and noah just doesn't wanna be there. literally makes him sick. so he goes to his car (which is crazy dirty bc the last time anyone saw it was 7 years ago) and he looses it and writes 'murdered' over and over again on the dirt. his friends go find him and see this and everyone's all :( but his buddy ronan writes 'remembered'

long story short he's constantly afraid of being forgotten which is exactly what happens at the end of the series
