Forever
@supernaturally-yours97 requested a Learning to Dance modern wedding <3
Rayla hardly heard all the formal wedding-type-things Soren was even saying. She was too busy in her own head, thinking about the life that she was about to begin with Callum. She was marrying Callum. If only her college self could have seen her. She would've hardly believed it back then. She hardly believed it now, at the alter, as Callum grinned at her, as Soren was talking about marriage, as there were so many people there to support them.
The only way she knew Soren had stopped talking was because Callum started talking instead.
"Rayla, you're my best friend. You're the most incredible person in my life, and I don't want to imagine where I would be without you. Before you, I was just a regular guy in a department where he didn't belong. But that came to not matter anymore, because I didn't need to belong there. The place I belong is wherever you are. You're the best place I could be, and I'm here today to say that it's where I want to be for the rest of my life."
He gave her a large grin, but his eyes were welling up as Ezran handed him a pair of cuffs to go on Rayla's horns. She should have expected that he wouldn't make it through the ceremony without crying at least once. And, she considered as she ducked her head to let Callum clasp the cuffs on her horns, it was definitely likely that he would cry more at the reception later. That was just like him, and she couldn't help but beam up at him as she straightened.
Taking his hand in her own, Rayla inhaled a deep breath and focused on Callum's eyes. "Callum, I...I wrote and rewrote my vows so many times, trying to find the right words for what I wanted to say to you. I eventually came to the conclusion that nothing I say will what I want, because no language on Earth has the right words to tell you how much I love you. You're the best thing to ever happen to me, and even if I can't always find the words for it, I want you to continue to be the best thing to ever happen to me, for forever." Leda handed her Callum's ring, and she gently slipped it onto his hand.
Soren heaved a heavy sigh, grabbing Rayla's attention away from Callum's tearful eyes.
"You guys are so gross," he commented, finding his place on his notes, and the guests chuckled.
"Okay, but you agreed to officiate," Callum pointed out. He wiped his eyes.
With a shrug, he said, "How was I supposed to know you were going to be gross and cry?"
Rayla burst out laughing. "It's our wedding! This is when we're supposed to be gross and cry!"
"If that's the case, then we'll get it over with." The guests let themselves laugh as well. At least they were enjoying Soren's antics. He cleared his throat. "Callum, do you take Rayla to be your waffley wedded wife?"
More laughter rose as Callum snorted, "Lawfully, Soren."
Soren rolled his eyes. "Do you take Rayla to be your lawfully, waffley wedded wife?"
Shaking his head as he chuckled, Callum replied, "I do."
"Rayla, do you take Callum to be your lawfully, waffley wedded husband?"
She trembled with laughter, but nodded and managed, "I do."
"Then I pronounce this couple lawfully, waffley wedded. Go ahead and be gross for everyone."
With an eye roll, Callum took a step closer and placed a gentle hand on her cheek, giving her a look that made her heart soar through the cosmos - even more so as it began to sink in that they were married. He swept her into a kiss, and she held him tightly, reveling in his touch, in his love, in their forever. Nothing else mattered but their forever.
