Yep. Their mother in the books is described as beautiful and gentle always protecting Damon what mother would let her son get beat by the father a real one would prevent a fight grrr stupid show. When will they listen to us xD

Which is the headcanon pretty much everyone had and was expecting and it’s such a let down...I get that they needed a big bad but they created virtually no conflict between her duty to her sons and her duty to her surrogate family

It would have been so much more interesting if she was legitimately torn but instead she seems to resent and hate Damon and Stefan no matter how they try to reason with her
