❛ edelgard --- ❜ he is ... unsure of how to approach the topic again. previously, he'd done it with such gusto but now ? he is worried ( so much for optimism ) that chance might now be lost forever. in the end, he decides to ask honestly, mustering as much of his usual confidence as he can. ❛ i'm curious about our conversation from before ... would now be a good time for us to continue it ? ❜ // aegeir ;) ily
‘ —— … i suppose . ‘
there were many circumstances in which edelgard felt entirely in control — her motivation MAXED out , and probably a little too confident about the situation at hand . most of her life she has only ever had to be stoic , firm , clear , — cold ; not instructively , of course … the frost came after years and years of practice in the ways of planning and politics , strategies and statistics . however , these aspects of her character seem to disappear completely when it came to speaking matters of the HEART , her heart . the emperor assumed if she were to end up marrying , it would fall more along the lines of an arrangement — not exactly something she wanted for herself , but was completely prepared to accept should the occasion arise . to think she would actually have the chance proclaim her heart’s intent to someone she could see herself truly being with , someone who was truly worthy of sharing those secrets … was something of a dream ; or perhaps it only felt that way because of HIM.
in spite of that …
it is never an easy thing to put yourself in a vulnerable position ; yet , ferdinand was able to do such an act with ease , seemingly effortlessly . ( if one thing was certain , he would not be outdone on this . ) could she not be so bold to do the same ? shoulders tensed / lips pursed , the color in her cheeks nearly matched her dress . SHE STARES , blinking momentarily as she gathers the courage to find the words , it would take much more than that to speak them .
‘ ferdinand , i — ‘ HER VOCALS ARE UNUSUALLY SOFT , his name trips in her throat & she loses her voice ; however briefly . if the gods have not truly abandoned the people of fódlan , surely they would show her mercy in this endeavor of a confession … edelgard would not dare question his intentions , he was one of the most honorable men she’d come to know and know well ; always quick and willing to do right by his family and comrades in great extents . & though their shared history could be considered legend , she knew the lancer would not ask for her hand simply for the sake of their ancestors — no ; he asked for her hand because he loved her , and would love her for the rest of their days . she very much wanted to return the affections .
‘ to have you by my side — to spend the rest of my life with you —— i would … i would be honored to accept .. ! ‘ // @aegeir
