remus and flowers?

keys jangle and the door opens. remus looks up from the pot he's stirring on the stove. "sweetheart?"

there's the sound of your shoes clattering on the floor and then your face is at the doorway. your smile makes remus' insides melt. "hi."

"hi," he smiles back, lowering the heat before moving towards you as he wipes his hands on a rag. he hears something crinkle behind your back and he pauses, brow arched. "what's that?"

your teeth dig into your bottom lip as you sway on your feet. "bought you something," you shrug, suddenly shy. "made me think of you."

he can't help how soft he sounds, even when he tries to scold you. "what have I told you about buying me things? I don't need anything."

you huff while he shakes his head, endlessly bothered by how little he thinks he deserves. "s'not about about need, love. it's about me wanting to gift you something because I love you and I think it'll make you happy."

"alright," he sighs, but there's a smile still on his face. a soft one that radiates warmth. "let's see it."

colours. that's all he sees. pretty purples and pinks and oranges, peppered with baby breath and greenery that bring it all together. you shove them at his chest with a grin.

he can't deny he's a little speechless. very much taken back by how touched he is by them. he swallows. "you bought me flowers?"

you hum, giddy.

"they made you think of me?"

your smile widens and you move to his side so you can hug at his waist while he stares at the flowers in his hands. "something about them. I don't know, they just made me so happy." you smile into his arm, rubbing your cheek against the thick fabric of his sweater. "guess s'how you always make me feel, so..."

you look at him from under your lashes when he remains quiet. someone else might think he's ungrateful, but not you. not when you know his expressions by heart. he's overwhelmed, surprised. and knowing that makes you both a little sad and incredibly fond of him. "y'like them?"

deep breath, and then he's shifting to wrap his arms around you, tucking you snug into his frame so he can kiss your head, your forehead, and then your lips. "they're beautiful." he swallows, "thank you."

standing on your tippy toes, you kiss him again, smiling against his lips and pecking his face and jaw until he's chuckling and bringing you in even closer. "take it i'm forgiven then?"
