it’s because anything viewed as ‘unmanly’ is frowned upon by society so they have to make something that guys don’t generally do (having a really close friend that they actually talk about ‘emotions’ with idk) sound manly bc of the societal pressure
how does it sound more manly? the word 'romance' suggests an intimate closeness w someone and if its between two guys it sounds Gay Bruh which i thought was why close male friendships were frowned upon in the first place
