not to be completely unhinged, but the logstedshire reveal was just. phenomenal. just truly fucking phenomenal. the build up. the way his face just fell. the immediate cut to silence and black, and then to the slow-building unhinged hyperviolent revenge fantasy. the snap back to reality. it was just so...
i have a lot of feelings about it, and about how tv shows often try to do this with scene cuts and ringing sounds like the character’s hearing has gone or close-ups on their face. and none of those techniques, none of them, have gotten close to the cold, calculating, murderous insanity that finding out someone you love has been hurt can bring down on you. none of them cut quite to the heart of the matter in the same way as getting to watch someone go still and blank, and then immediately seeing what they’re fantasising about - cornering the abuser, coercing a confession for them, and then delivering ‘justice’ that rapidly degrades into incoherent, miserable, agonised screaming and senseless violence. nothing conveys that fury like getting a brief peek into a person’s immediate knee-jerk reaction in the form of automatic fantasy. and i’m obsessed with it.
