The chapter opened with Haruka spacing out in the classroom. Takane called him and told him to erase the doodle he drew on his note before Sensei noticed. It turned out that Haruka was drawing Haruka. He looked at Konoha with a shocked expression while Takane kept telling him to erase "it".
Well, the scene turned out to be a dream. Haruka woke up, seeing a worried Shintaro asking if Haruka was OK or not since he looked like he was having a nightmare.
Shintaro complained it was deadly hot recently, to which Haruka just sighed listlessly. Shintaro was worried again, asking if Haruka was feeling well - he was spacing out a lot lately. Haruka replied it was just because of the hot weather. Shintaro completely agreed and said that they were still better than many since they didn't have to go outside in this kind of weather. Haruka was about to say he also didn't want to go outside... when he remembered his days with Takane.... Shintaro noticed Haruka was spacing out again, but Haruka just said it was nothing and invited Shintaro to play again. Both said "I won't lose today" and began to play. Haruka continued to be lost in thought about how Takane had not visited him since then... He wondered if she was too busy with school or perhaps she was spending time with friends... If that was the case then Haruka would definitely be happy too, but he wanted to see her at least one last time...
Momo entered the room, saying that every single time she visited, Shintaro was playing games and asked him to let her play sometimes. He of course refused, (knowing) worrying that Momo would break the console. Momo argued back a little then told Shintaro that he could go home tomorrow, to which he reacted by showing a super displeased face: "I don't wanna be discharged from here... Let the nurse take care of me all my life....!!". Momo said that was why the nurses called Shintaro "the hospital NEET".
Momo was about to go home and Shintaro asked why she went back so soon. Momo snapped and slipped that she did not have as much free time has him and that she had to go to an audition later... Shintaro was all confused and told Momo to stop - "Onii-chan will absolutely not approve of that!"
After Momo went back, Shintaro told Haruka he was sorry because of all the noise. Haruka said it didn't matter and it was good that Shintaro could go home tomorrow. Seeing Shintaro's disgruntled look, Haruka sighed and smiled at him that Shintaro should go to school, that "Shintaro-kun" would be able to make wonderful friends... Haruka could not go to school now but when he does, he will go to the same school as Shintaro and they can play together again. Shintaro finally smiled and said that he would think about it. Haruka also said they would definitely have a lot of fun.
While Shintaro was sleeping, Haruka thought about his friends - Takane and Shintaro... and started crying:
"I am such an idiot... wishing for something that can't be granted..."
Days after that, Haruka had an attack. He reached for the sketchbook... The scene changed to Takane, who was sitting, thinking about how much of an idiot she was, going to the hospital countless times after that but always going back home before meeting Haruka... She then saw some doctors and nurse rushing somewhere... No dialogue was shown but after asking the doctor about something (Haruka), she ran to his room, seeing no one, nothing but a sketchbook, which Haruka drew a picture of her, with the title "My friend" on... Takane had a pained expression on her face, wondering but why... that guy didn't say anything about his illness... then realized that "No, that's not it. The one who told nothing to the other... was me..."
The scene changed to Shintaro, walking... maybe into the hospital, holding the admission letter on his hand, while hearing from some passing nurses that there was someone who committed suicide by jumping from the hospital room...
