I hope its okay to ask costume questions. I recently bought a RuthlessFX Sabine cast. I cut out the visor area but I can't seem to install the visor so that it sits flush with the helmet. I was wondering if you'd have any advice or encountered a similar problem when working with yours?
Yeah! I remember encountering difficulty when I installed my visor. Also, costume questions are my favorite, so ask away.
As you’ve probably noticed, the RuthlessFX helmet sits canted back when on a table; the front slants, which makes installing the visor sorta tricky. I had to cut mine down a lot and ended up gluing it with sort of only the edges of it touching the helmet at the bottom of the mandibles, rather than plane to plane, as you can see here.
I found it easier to position and secure the top edges of the helmet on the visor portion as its main holding points, and by the “nose” area there the T crosses, where the visor can actually sit flat surface to flat surface; I left a lot of extra visor up there. Then just sorta press the visor forward until it touches the bottom of the mandibles. The hot glue actually comes up for me at the mandible points all the time, but the rest holds it in place. Since you can’t tell, I never fix it.
