With views like these, it’s not that hard to crush 41 miles. . . . I was able to ride most of the IronMan 70.3 Boulder bike course except for the Diagonal section. I love this course especially everything after the St. Vrain climb. . . . #cycling #boulder #training #ironman #im703boulder #triathlete #cyclinglife #flatirons #view #climb #fitlife #cycle #cyclelife #colorado #meand703 (at Boulder, Colorado) https://www.instagram.com/p/BzThLquF2iU/?igshid=1r0qpj9k8pims
I learned something about myself after 5 months of training for a half Ironman... I like structure. No, I need structure. And I never really thought I was ~that way~. But there I was, less than one week after the race had come and gone, just looking out my office window and trying to figure out the “what’s next?” And not having the answers is kind of terrifying. I gave myself a week to let my hair down. I got my house back in order, I retold the race day story a million times to a million people that asked (and truly didn’t mind a single bit), I caught up with friends, I ate whatever I wanted to... I lived an unstructured life. I ran for the first time since Boulder this morning, 4 easy miles. I want to learn to love running again. I missed it. The last few weeks it felt like a chore but I’m learning to find my happy place again when my feet hit the pavement. For now, I have one or two half marathons planned for the fall. Possibly a full in December. And some other scattered plans here and there. These pictures don’t really have anything to do with anything. It was just a recent night of being fully known and fully loved. Good night.
It’s miserably hot in Texas right now. But training has to continue. 4 friends ran/rode along next to me for 10 miles. It’s my last long workout before Boulder 70.3. I got a little emotional toward the end of this run. No one saw it. I looked ahead of me and see my friends and realized... they could be anywhere. ANYWHERE. Instead, they’re out here suffering, too. For ME. What a humbling moment. My heart was full. It’s taper time.
Today is the first day of following a training plan from @dustynabor since the lead up to IM New Zealand in March of 2019! (Pregnancy and covid lead to my 2+ years of just general exercise without actually training). But I’m toying with racing IM 70.3 Boulder in early August, so all of a sudden it’s crunch time. And, obviously, AC had a runny nose over the weekend, which means no child care. So we walked (toe still recovering), he slept, and I did my PT routine in the front yard. My entire training plan can be summed up as and titled Better Than Nothing. #facepalm #im703boulder #roadtoironman #protriathlete #promom #momswhotri #childcare #betterthannothing #comeback #motherrunner https://www.instagram.com/p/CPlf0xnBT0E/?utm_medium=tumblr
Mr T insisted we hang the “Best Year Ever” ornament up together. Followed by adding my Boulder 70.3 medal.
Christmas is coming in hot. And for the first time in a long time, we’re both equally as excited.
Here we go. Ironman 70.3 Boulder. #trainwithINTENT #im703boulder #iamspecialized (at IRONMAN 70.3 Boulder)
