I caved and decided to make an Eridian OC!

If any markings and color choices here make no sense or contradict each other, then I need to better read up on lore and whatnot. Links would be appreciated!

Might figure out how to make its name one day. Name (both Eridian and Human alternative) is a WIP.

It/Its mostly, They/Them also good

Has a habit of staying very still akin to sleeping when it doesn't want someone to bother them ("Like Grace sleeping, statement. Quick to wake.")

Almost always tapping on something, a potential soothing action; Alternates include stretches and bonks

Eridian equivalent of a healthcare worker

Enjoys the pebbles, would not like their own ever ("Too much work, also I like friends better"; aspec character made by aspec person, fork found in kitchen)

If Erid has a form of music, it would enjoy that; If not, then it would seek out music from Grace ("It feels nice, even when it sounds a bit like gibberish")

Making friends is a weird process for it that includes observation from afar for extended periods of time and slow integration into the pre-established group

The glasses are an equivalent to a necklace: functionally useless, but has a nice weight to it

Severely nearsighted, but make it Eridian: Needs a sound amplifier to properly make out shapes and echo-locate

Overthinks several things all at once and packages that neatly behind nonchalance

Enjoys a nice loaf (akin to a cat loaf)

On the shorter/smaller side for Eridians, uses this opportunity to perch on larger, friendly Eridians

Gets caught up in interests very suddenly and violently, seeks any knowledge on thing of interest for extended periods of time; Current interest: Human music

Picks at small chips on its carapace sometimes; Whether this is self-soothing or a bad habit has yet to be acknowledged

Writes poetry sometimes, refuses to share it with others

The Delivery Mage of Home

Summary: A mage from far away takes up residence in the seaside town of Home, where they meet puppets aplenty, experience the entire spectrum of emotions, write a story, and learn to embrace themself.

So I figured I throw this on here for fun.

Thoughts I have so far for an AdP sona/OC (leaning towards sona)

Name is Matik

They/It

Plague doctor inspired! I have this specific image in my head where the beak/nose is kinda fused with the upper lip, if you get my drift?

Body is black with white polka dots, so clothes are white with black polka dots

Those big-ass lens in the plague doctor mask/face are glasses grade (very nearsighted)

Hood is triangular shaped with the tip being a golden triangle

Triangle on the clothes somewhere

Jacket! Puffy pants that taper together at the end! POCKETS!!!

No idea about shoes yet. Barefoot slaps, but if shoes are needed they need to be able to BOOK IT

Triangle ahoge (that random strand of hair atop an anime character's head)

Not sure if I want to add my default sona's horns to them (they're golden colored, but hmm...)

Arrived to earth after the Poitrine brothers blew up on KEXP to observe how they did it. Got fascinated with the stories and books and music on the planet and tries to make their own.

Mimics others as a form of appreciation and is part of its learning process

Mimicking is a big part of their life, used as a way to fit in and observe

Gay sit

Due to the time difference, they'll often experience time blindness

Since time traveling to the future is difficult, they sometimes worry about the future

Rubs its hands and fingers together often when trying to gather their thoughts together quickly

Probably really likes fish

Matik sort of sounds like this this word in Tagalog, tinik, which sort of describes sharp pointy things like thorns and fishbones. Because of that, I imagine sharper imagery that's rounded out by clothes

I'm gripped with the need to make a ghoul OC. A ghoulie, if you'll allow yourself to be tickled with the possibility (b/c I love not making decisions about "ghoul or ghoulette", so lemme make a new word for it, ehehe).

Or I could just chuck my sona as a ghoul and make them my ghoulsona *shrugs* I mean, I have lore ideas for the ghoulsona idea in terms of personality (b/c it's my sona, hehe) right here:

Stage crew!

A bit of a jestery theater kid (apparently I was called such today! "Without the negative aspects" <- not making it my entire personality or shtick) who wants to be on stage but is deeply afraid of being judged on-stage for messing up anything

So stage crew is the next best thing!

Tried to pick up learning an instrument to follow those "stage yearnings" but the lessons didn't really stick in a way that the other ghouls hoped

Makes small lil' tunes on a laptop that the ministry has (it was a spare and older model that was going to be tossed out anyways)

Has a okay singing voice and can maybe pick out some acoustic guitar notes (b/c electric guitar felt "too heavy and skinny" to them)

Probably summoned during the time of Papa V Perpetua (because that was my first full album release and I love the vampire vibe V has going on)

A bit sad that they weren't around during the time of the other Papas, but it's okay; they hear about the stories from the other ghouls

Managed to get their human glamour down pretty good!

The parts that appear back first from emotions/stress/etc. are ears, horns, tail

A bit silly when doing stage crew

Just really wants to be proven helpful to the ministry

Ooo, that's an interesting one! Let me see...

Lack of innate understanding of how carbon-based beings work (since Icarus is a star, mostly made of hydrogen and helium)

Lack of understanding of the concept of time

The want to find others of its kind, because there's got to be others like them...right?

🍔HAMBURGER — is your oc good at cooking? are they good at baking? which one do they prefer?

Not really good at either one, but they can probably pull together a nice warm sandwich and soup provided that it's simple.

☺️SMILING FACE WITH SMILING EYES — what are your oc's career/general life desires? what do they want to get the most out of life?

Icarus really wants to get back home to space one day, but that's a work in progress since the fall to earth has fundamentally changed it. That, and the beings here are very interesting and kind...oh, it's a bit attached to a few of them.

But if there were ever a star that fell to earth, Icarus would stop at nothing to find them.

Westward Trio Thoughts

Okay besides the multitude of AUs I've thought up of these three (including but not limited to Sky COTL, Actor, Moomin, Monsters, Human, Fantasy/DND etc.), there's also the multitude of angst and twice the multitude of fluff as well as other suggestive stuff with the adults but hush

But listen. I'm trying to collect my thoughts together on what makes these three so lovely to me and while it's not working so well, I think I have something about it. I also need to clean up their character sheets and make them more generalized, along with add some more art I got of them. Maybe make Zephyr their own sheet, who knows?

But anyways.

I've said it before again and again that all my characters are a part of me. They're given parts of me, good and bad, that I use to mold them into something that I'll like and keep interest in. That works sometimes, and sometimes it doesn't.

May it's working this time, because I just love these three a lot.

Whynn is stories and thoughts. They're anxious and trying so hard despite all the panic. They're nearsighted as hell and they bury everything they feel inside until it starts to claw its way out and bursts. They're trying so hard to be bold for others, and they've imagined it a lot but they're not there quite yet. They will ramble about what they love and enjoy and create and they seek all that validation for laying their creations out for others.

Zephyr is ideas and freedom. They're happy and looking up to others whom they admire. They're a bit nervous as to how to make these role models proud of them and they sometimes feel pressured over the world outside, how it's full of teeth and sharp claws. They will always look for someone who will take them someplace safe at the end of the day, someplace warm and soft.

AT-1225 is rigidity and routine. They're happy with what they do, even if it's repetitive to no end. He's content with the same clothes, the same routes, the same train to fall back to and travel with. She's also content with the small changes in passengers, the things they say, the places they go. It's a physically cold thing upon initial touch but warm inside. They're will look for things that make him feel alive, that trigger that spark of happiness and joy and cause her to remember that it's all okay.

Somewhere, woven within all of them, are bits of me. And when they're all there happy, then maybe it's me being happy. And when they're all there angsty, then maybe it's me trying to figure things out.

Perhaps I'm putting too much thought into this. But isn't that what we do? Over-analyze until we think we come to a satisfactory conclusion?

They're also a better exploration (to me, at least) of a QPR. Speaking towards the adults (Zephyr, you're a child, shoo for this paragraph): are they asexual because they can't physically have sex, or are they asexual because they simply are? And that's the same for romantic too. Then within that you break apart nuances and situations and you go "Wait. Theoretically, if you reference the monster lover community, then---" and you end up where your a-spec mind ends up: lots of cuddles and forehead nuzzles.

And cuddles are nice, but forehead nuzzles are better. Perhaps I'm biased. But there's also hand kisses and small inside jokes and words translated across languages and I sometimes wonder if what I'm imagining with this trio is what I want. They're all so happy and I only want a piece of that.

One day. Or if never, then one day I'll learn to live with that.

Because I made these characters, and I can only hope that they love me back.

“Remember Zephyr — ”

“I know!”

“Not too much candy. And please try to stay close.”

Zephyr groaned. “Whynn, I’m not gonna run off super far! I’ve gotta take care of the passengers! And you’re one of them.” Really, it should be obvious from their costume. Maybe Whynn didn’t understand what they were dressed up as. So the child posed in the middle of the dark street, one hand pointing forwards and the other on their hip. “All aboard!” they called out.

Their hair fluffed out, untethered by a hat or other head accessory. While a hat would’ve really sold their costume, they hated the feeling of almost everything on their head. The most that they allowed was a hood, and even that felt too weird if they really thought about the sensation.

A few beings looked at the child, some cooing and others rolling their eyes. Zephyr ignored them at first, but as their gaze drifted between Whynn and the passerby, their bravado slowly faded into something sheepish. “You think my costume is nice, right?”

Whynn stayed silent for about 13 seconds of varying length before they patted Zephyr on the shoulders. “Very cute.”

“Very professional!”

“Professionally cute.”

Zephyr lightly hit their guardian on the arm and whined, “I’m a professional! ‘M not cute!”

“Oh, fine. You’re the most professional one there is.” Whynn fixed their short cape and said something under their breath that sounded like, “Maybe I should’ve done a different costume.”

“I like your costume. Wizards are super cool! They’re also super smart, like you,” Zephyr said. “You’re just missing the big hat they wear where you can shout ‘Sun and moon! Stars and sword! I summon to me, places not explored!’ or something!”

Whynn blinked owlishly behind their glasses, then gasped. “That’s a perfect spell!” They waved their hands with the grace of someone who didn’t exactly know what to do with their hands and recited the rhyme Zephyr made up. “Oh, that’s perfect!”

Zephyr hopped around their guardian. “Is it?”

“It is!”

The child let out a loud whoop of joy. “It is! I’m a spellmaker and a conductor and– AT!” Zephyr’s attention jumped from celebrating their new careers to the familiar conductor. The conductor was dressed in a classic black costume…maybe a vampire? Zephyr guessed that someone at the train depot or station gave it to the robot. “AT! Look, look!” They stumbled into a run towards the robot, leaping into a floating and slow-moving projectile. “Guess what I am!”

AT-1225 caught the light child and put them down. “Let me see…” He looked at their costume, and Zephyr caught the moment when she paused. “Oh? Are you a miniature me?”

“Yeah! It’s always been you!”

AT-1225 did something a little odd: it made a static-filled sound before covering its mouth. The static turned into a crackly laugh that continued even when Whynn managed to catch up to the duo. “Apologies, but — ” He tapped at his throat and static still echoed out. “Come on…” She tapped her throat a bit more before things calmed down. “You dressed up as a train conductor?”

“Of course! Whynn’s a wizard, I’m a train conductor, and you’re a vampire!”

AT-1225 shrugged. “My coworkers insisted.”

“No hat?” Whynn asked.

“My coworkers also insisted that the hat would ruin the overall costume.”

Zephyr watched as Whynn took one of AT-1225’s gloved hands and pressed the back of it to their mouth. AT-1225’s voicebox fizzed and he reached up to grab a hat that wasn’t there. She instead shaded her eyes and crackled out, “Whynn! You — !”

“Sorry, sorry. I had to.” Whynn looked happy, a sheepish smile on their face.

Zephyr on the other hand, pretended to gag. “Ew! Ew ew ew! I’m here for candy and pointing at people, not this!” They circled around the two with increasing intensity until they could finally move forwards.

Halloween, here they all go!

Fictober Day 9: "don't listen to me, listen to them"

“I need you to go — ”

“And leave you behind? Absolutely not.”

You resist the urge to roll your eyes, or to let out a loud groan of annoyance. You manage that resistance for long enough to throw off suspicion over your emotions, then you slap both hands to your face and let them slide off. You put enough pressure on them to let the flesh on your face peel down a little, like you have seen some humanoids do to expose the bottom of their eyeballs.

“You hired me to protect you on your journey to the capital. Now we’re here, and there are better people to ensure your safety instead of me.” It was the truth. You can see the powerful spellcasters here, the soldiers and knights with their heavy weapons in hand. You can also approximate the number of times that those weapons have been bloodied, and it was enough to count on one hand only.

“Madam.” One of the soldiers extends a hand, metal plate armor clicking as they do so. “We must go now. You are safer with us.”

Your client, a sorcerer from a rather influential family in the capital (you don’t pay much attention to politics, so sue you for not knowing specifics), looks at you. Her eyes look at you up and down, then she clasps her hands in front of her.

Oh gods, she’s begging.

“Mysterious protector of mine with no name,” she cries, “at least allow me to offer you a spell of protection if you are to go out and fight those that have trailed me.” She starts to blink more frequently and sticks her lower lip out a bit.

You contort your face into a grimace. You hate it when others start pulling things like this on you. So maybe charms like this work on most of your client’s previous protectors, it wouldn’t work on you. “Save your spells.”

She stomps her foot on the cobblestone. “I’m offering you a good spell, so it’s best you take me up on my offer.”

“Madam, we have to go — ”

“Not until I give this spell to them!”

You grimace again. “It,” you spit out. “Not ‘them’. ‘It’.” You wave your hand dismissively and add, “Anyways, don't listen to me, listen to them.” You gesture to the spellcasters and knights, ready to sweep the sorcerer off her feet and take her far away to safety.

Your client, soon to be a former client as soon as you can get away from her, sighs. “You are so frustrating.”

You keep your mouth shut.

The sorcerer rapidly takes a step towards you and exhales a word weaved with magic as she taps your nose with a finger. “Let them try to burn you,” she whispers.

You recoil from her touch and consider punching yourself in the nose, but that’s an idiotic move. You instead rub at your nose with the sleeve of your jacket as you glare at her from behind your tinted glasses.

The sorcerer giggles and moves behind her new, more qualified protection squad. “Consider that my tip,” she calls as she’s whisked away.

“Stupid touch spells,” you spit out to no one. You sort of hope that you get punched in the nose by the ones that have been trailing you. Pain would be better than that gentle tap.
