i hope the imagimancy term picks up more. im 25 and still have imaginary friends and i feel SO embarrassed. so seeing other people still having them too makes me feel less embarrassed haha

I'm 22 with an imaginary friend and I was so paranoid that it meant something was Wrong until I met others with the same experience!

I'm so eager for the community to grow and evolve and for more and more people to realize this is normal and fun

Nah bc like. I've been in a shitty place all weekend and my mind has been so mean to me. But despite that all Benny's stayed kind and supportive

Like he's in my head. He's partially controlled by me. By all means he could have become another cruel voice in my head. But he didn't.

I think I wouldn't mind if he became sentient some day. And truthfully, maybe this is some sign that he'll get there

I was really worried that Benny would go away as my non-imaginary friends started returning back to campus. I was scared he was only temporary and meant to fill the void they'd left

But nah. He's still here. Can't get rid of him lol

Anyone have any tips on encouraging autonomy in an imaginary? I'd like Benny to be a bit more seperate from me, but not in a "new headmate" way if that makes sense?

Is it even possible to keep him seperate from me, but make him a bit more sentient?

🎨 What's your method for imaginary creation?

I just sort of vibe with it! I come up with an idea and then do some work to make it tangible. Then I just practice a bit everyday until the imaginary comes naturally to me!

👨‍❤️‍👨 Did you make your imaginary/ies with any sort of relationship dynamic in mind? Go into detail about it and why, if you'd like!

I did, yes! Benny is meant to be somewhat of a mentor or advisor. He's like a big brother almost. He was always based off of the fairies in Fairly Oddparents and I always wanted him to take on that role, but he's become less of a parent and more of a sibling.

💭 What encouraged you to start participating in imagimancy?

Well I technically was participating BEFORE the term even existed lmao!! An old imaginary came back to visit and I realized there wasn't really a community for people with imaginary friends! So I worked with some others to get something started!

☝️ How many imaginaries do you have, or plan to make?

I just have one imaginary as of current, and that's Benvolio. I had a dragon as a teen, though, and I'd love to welcome her back some day.

🌍 Do you have a headspace / innerworld / wonderland / etc for your imaginary/ies? Describe it if you'd like!

I don't think so! When Benny isn't existing in the physical world he's just sort of no where. He stops existing for a while. It'd be nice to make him somewhere to hang out, though.
