outtakes from Imaginary Cinema [Reel #3], 2019
Tonight's movie I wish I was watching is called RED LINE (aka GASH).
New York 1986. A group of lesbians and female sex workers mentored by Sharon Mitchell (as "Deuce") organize to take revenge on corrupt cops assaulting sex workers in the Burroughs.(David Hess as Lt. Costas and Tom Savini as Benetti)
It goes from bad cops to rape revenge to full on assault on precinct 13 as women storm the precinct in a fiery final show down that leaves nobody unscathed.
Soundtrack includes Swans and Lords Of New Church.
I wish that Bob Gucioni had produced a film with Jamie Gillis featuring a Steely Dan soundtrack in the mid 70s about a model from New England that moves to New York and falls for a low level mobster that sucks her into a life of crime. The couple use their respective skills of sex and violence to climb the social ladder while growing more isolated from each other, leading to a dramatic murder/suicide in an isolated town house where the thoroughbred dogs eat their corpses. The second half of the film takes place entirely in the house as various gangsters, groupies, hustlers and hangers on feed the vortex of insanity.
"You know that movie? The one with Rutger Hauer? Elizabeth Berkeley as the crime lord? It has that scene where they take out an Apache helicopter with a 1986 Saab 4-door?"
