Harnett Central Class of 1996 20th Reunion
Imagine Rhett and Link hastily going their separate ways after graduating high school in 1996 due to some... confusing... drunken acts of love after senior prom.
But it’s 2016 and it’s been ten years since the last official class of 2016 reunion. Both men decided to skip out on the nostalgia back in 2006 when everything was going right, but since Link’s recent divorce and Rhett’s wife’s death last year their families and friends have been nagging them to get out and do something “fun” for once instead of moping alone in their apartments.
So, they go. But not because they want to. They go to get everyone of their backs.
“Link?” Rhett whispered to himself as a dark haired mess wearing a tuxedo t-shirt and sweatpants stumbled through the gymnasium doors. He galloped over to his old friend, nervous but confident and exclaimed, “Link!”
‘Link’ pointed to his name tag with one hand while the other braced the wall to stay upright. It read ‘Charles’. He wiped his long bangs away from his eyes and looked up at the tall stranger and said in a slur, “Wow, if I didn’t know any better I’d’ve said you’re Rhett. But Rhett was much less of a... douchebaaaaagggg,” he retorted pointing to Rhett’s coif with a swaying finger, “No one calls me Link anymore. Haven’t been called that since.. well, 1996! Now, where are the drinks...”
