We were assigned words to consider when we were sent to take 50 shots of winter themed photos. Then we had to swap photos with another student so we were not editing our own photos.
I chose Lightroom to complete the import to export workflow, I did not need to select the photos to use as the photographer had already selected the photos for optimizing. Lightroom was very efficient at batch naming and adding metadata at the input stage, it was also very quick an easy to rate and then optimize the photos using the designated tools to the left of the screen in development. On export it was very quick and easy to batch resize photos for print and website use.
The idea that Lightroom did not have a save or save as option was petrifying, until I finally got this chance to use Lightroom from import to export.
Now I understand fully why my old workflow was slow and inefficient, Lightroom is such a fast efficient software for a photographer to use and saves allot of time.
I now understand why we kept hearing our tutors mantra “lightroom is your friend” and will get into the practice of incorporating lightroom into my workflow.
