what really strikes me about the new sonic trailer is that,, they finally accepted that sonic is goofy. like, i feel like in the first one they were trying so hard to make him #cool that they missed the whole reason sonic got popular to begin with. he was designed to appeal to kids in the 90’s, and all those 90’s kids that loved him then are Adults now. you don’t have to make him edgy for people to want to enjoy his content, you just have to,, let him Be Sonic.
getting Tyson Hesse to do the redesign was a huge brain move on their part, bc i feel like he really Gets Sonic. he Gets that sonic is a funny character for kids, he gets that he doesn’t need to tryhard to get the adult audience to see it
people want to like sonic, they want his stuff to be good. any time arin hanson plays a sonic game he rants about how bad it is; the design, the gameplay, the plot. but he always says that he WANTS to like it. he WANTS to like sonic, he wants to like playing the games
idk man i think people in charge of this stuff just need to stop trying so hard and just make stuff they’d want to see
