"Sing About Me" is my favorite Kendrick Lamar song, what I consider his crowning achievement to date -- but this video doesn't do it much justice. Inexplicably, it omits Kendrick's second verse (Keisha'a sister's response to "Keisha's Song" from Section 80), eliminating the masterful triptych framework of the lyrics. And the video treatment appears to have been designed as an excuse to collaborate with this Eddie Peake, who turns out an underwhelming tribute to the song. Maybe I'd directed this video too many times in my head to be objective when presented with the real thing, I don't know. Thoughts?
Maybe 'cause I'm dreamer and sleep is the cousin of death. Really stuck in the scheme of, wondering when I'm a rest. And you're right, your brother was a brother to me. And your sister's situation was the one that put me; In a direction to speak of something that's realer than the TV screen... By any means, wasn't trying to offend or come between.

"I woke up this morning and figured I'd call you In case I'm not here tomorrow. I'm hoping that I can borrow a piece of mind. I'm behind on what's really important, My mind is really distorted. I find nothing but trouble in my life."
