War horse was something I have always wanted to watch after seeing the moving and heart-breaking movie. The film by Steven Spielberg tells us a story of the unbreakable bond with Albert and his horse Joey. After his father sells the horse to the army, Albert doesn’t give up until he finds his horse.
I completely fell in love with the film and was persistent that I WOULD watch it in theatre!
YAY, at last my mother got me tickets! Somewhere in my mind I thought I would see a real horse on stage and was somewhat disappointed when I realised Joey would actually be a puppet. I knew that they couldn’t really bring a real horse on stage but after seeing the beautiful animal on my TV I was desperate to see the real Joey! I’ve seen handsprung puppets so many times on TV and was worried that these puppets wouldn’t live up to my expectations. However, I was completely wrong! In fact, my expectations were surpassed! The puppets were extraordinary! I was so impressed how these puppeteers could bring Joey to life, I truly believed I was watching a real horse on stage and must admit I fell more in love with this Joey!
The way the actors manipulated and moved the puppets to bring them to life was incredible. They made joey breathe while he walked, twitch his ears and even buck his legs! I really felt that they 17 hand high horse was stood right in front of me.
