I am so excited to share these next gemstone colors with you! I FINALLY have high quality Lapis Lazuli pigment from Afghanistan! I have been looking forward to buying this pigment for a long time, it has such a rich history behind it and it's a beautiful blue! For much of its history, it was the most prized if all colors, unobtainable except to the richest patrons. Once worth its weight in gold, it was used for the robes of only the most important figures in medieval art, usually Jesus or the Virgin Mary. Vermeer had a great fondness for it, and used it heavily in his work, the turban of "Girl With A Pearl Earring" is painted primarily in Lapis. It's incredible to be able to see this color in use hundreds of years later flowing off my own brush into my artwork. . . . https://www.etsy.com/shop/ImlothWatercolor https://www.artyah.com/seller/imlothmelui . . . #Lapislazuli #naturalwatercolor #gemstone #minerals #paintingwithgems #paintingwithnature #naturalpigment #watercolor #Imlothmelui #Imlothwatercolor #Handmadepaint #handmadewatercolorpaint #handmadewatercolors #blue #rarepigments #historicalpigments #watercolours #watercolors #etsy #earthpaint #watercolorsketch #watercolour #watercolorart #Earthcolors #lazurite #travelartist #lapis #painting #artoninstagram #naturalpaint
