FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: 7th July 2016 LADY NAM PRESENTS HER WAY INTO YOUR WEEKENDS! As an actress, she’s had us glued to our TV screens for quite some time now and it seems there no stopping Nambitha Ben-Mazwi as she takes us down yet another TV adventure. After a successful break from presenting to focus on acting, Nambitha Ben-Mazwi has officially returned back to the wonderful world of presenting! From Hollywood to the comforts of her own “hood”, we are proud to exclusively announce that Nambitha Ben-Mazwi is the proud new presenter addition of WEEKEND EDITION. "The show is an extension of the Expresso Morning Show, but the weekend edition. Led by vocal and opinionated duo Khanyi Mbau and Phat Joe, it will prove to be more cutting edge offering personality, creativity and more digital interaction.” Nambitha says. The popular SABC 3 show, is adding some new flavour as Nambiatha sees herself bagging yet another highlighted career achievement as the new addition to the hosting team of Weekend Edition showcased Saturday's and Sunday's; 6:30am-9am. "I'm always grateful. I was startled it happened so soon after I made the decision to go back to presenting after taking a year break from it. I made a conscious decision last year when I made my move to JHB, that I wanted to be taken seriously as an international and local actor, which meant not presenting or being in broadcasting. The break paid off as I now sit with two international productions, a local series, and two award nominations that recognize my acting craft. The break wasn't easy though, as presenting to me is a release where I get to be my bubbly self and interact with so many different people. I had missed that so much and this show couldn't have come at a better time." We caught up with the talented Actress/TV Presenter and got all the exclusive information. How did you get involved in the show? I literally got a call! Funny enough, I was going about my day preparing to present at the GPA 2016 awards that evening. I was listening to a radio interview with Aisha Mohamed (SABC 3 channel head) chatting about the new SABC laws in driving local content. As I was already thinking of going back to presenting and seeking producing opportunities after my year break from broadcasting to focus on acting, I shortly received a call with the offer to be one of the presenters. It clearly was all in God's timing. How long have you been contracted to the show and what has the shooting for this production been like thus far? I will be involved in the first season. I shot two segments last weekend, which was the first shoot for the show. From my experiences shooting with SABC 3, you often find yourself working with a rotation of the same crew, but it was exciting working with a brand new crew this time! We had great chemistry together, and that often happens when you travel with a small crew-you grow closer and learn about each others work ethic in a short space of time. Shooting with the team is collaborative as you all have the same end goal in mind, which helps bring out the best in each other. Why is this show important to you as an actress/TV Presenter? Firstly, its a show meaning a platform for me to reach people in a positive way. I am a very opinionated person who is intellectually curious. The business scientist in me comes out when given a platform to share my views, learn more about people, industries, places and engage in different trending topics. Being a part of an exciting weekend breakfast show like this, will not only help me learn more, travel more, meet people and engage, but it will also assist me in staying true to my motto of using my platform and strengths to make some sort of a difference. How are you, as an actress, able to switch between being behind the cameras on a movie set to filming a TV Show? The two arts are very different and should never be compared. On top of it all, I run my own media company, nambithaBM Media, which has fed my aspirations of being a producer. Acting is therapy for me. I transform into someone else. I learn empathy. I learn to become someone else and I carry that person's dreams, fears, insecurities, doubts, goals. I carry all of it with me as I transform into character. With hosting and presenting, I get to release and breathe and be myself. They both provide me with a sense of freedom, but with presenting I am free to be me. I am free to laugh, engage, be passionate, have an opinion and feed my love for people and learning. "Expect your weekend mornings to be entertained! This show will definitely be on the morning twitter trending list and forward thinking in its delivery!” Nambitha ends off.
