Thinking about that Kate might’ve been a deeply depressed person that’s very aware she’s viewed by the government she works for as merely their property but is in denial about it because this is literally the only thing she lives for.
She’s not nearly as aware of herself as she thinks she is. She swears this life is worth it because it’s righteous but still faked her own death just to get away from it. She is willing to put up with unreasonable amounts of pain for the sake of a so-called ‘greater good’.
She went running into the arms of a dilf that speaks for her because this woman has never truly made a decision for herself in her life. Being able to relate to him even just a little bit was enough to give herself to him.
She craves sex because it’s one of the only times where she actually feels like a full human being and not a piece of property.
Nobody asked for this but you know why I can’t stand the Immortal?

Immortality when you’re the only immortal one is a trope I adore to see and explore because it’s one of my biggest fears - to be just a human and yet live to experience so many things, so much pain and so many losses, more than what you’re supposed to live through. I have my dearest OC that has this power due to some unfortunate circumstances, and it’s SO interesting to imagine how a human mind would twist and wrap and change when living for so long, to see one’s morality develop for better or worse, to see them having to make the same choices after millennia and how their younger version would’ve picked the opposite option that their older version chose!
And with the Immortal they’ve given us a glimpse of that, how he went mad because he’s just a human!! He’s not meant to survive death over and over again, to see his loved ones, his own children die!!! And they could’ve expanded on that, given us insight on how he changed over the centuries in so, so many different ways. They could’ve shown him as someone who slowly grew to be detached from everyone because, you know, you can’t lose people you love if you don’t love anyone at all. Or they could’ve shown us how he grew to accept death and helped the team with accepting the deaths of their own friends and colleagues (you know, Rex for example…).
Instead, for some reasons, they decided to make him a half-assed man that has lived through some incredible stuff, WAS PRESIDENT OF THE US ONCE!!!, should have some salt in his head and what does he do? Doesn’t see anything wrong with getting with a traumatized young woman with whom he’s interacted maybe once on screen.
And see, while it gives me the ick that he went for Kate that was what, barely 20?, I could even maybe understand it if they had shown us some of their moments together. For what we’ve been shown, Kate is rather immature and it really, really just looks like the Immortal took advantage (more or less consciously) of her trauma to get himself some fresh meat that could keep his bed warm for maybe 70 years or something if he’s lucky. And while I would’ve preferred if they had developed a father-daughter relationship, I can see them actually falling in love without meaning to but… with time, you know?
So yeah, I’m salty ‘cause one of my favorite powers/curses has been used on a character whose romance was written quite horribly and kinda ruined the whole character for me. That’s all >:(
