Good news and bad news.

Good news is that at 128k words, 25 chapters and almost four months of work (mostly done at weekends), the sequel is finally complete 💜

Bad news is that before I start posting, I still have to re-read the whole thing, and come up with titles for 23 out of 25 chapters. As well as a title for the story itself.

But it's done.

It's fucking done.

OHMYGOD IT'S DONE.

I want to cry because this was such a labor of love and sweat and tears and madness. And now it's almost ready to go out into the world. I feel like the proud parent of a feral, unpredictable child.

I finished chapter 22 today.

It stands at 5.7k words.

I cried while writing at least 2 of those 5.7.

Chapter 20 is finished.

All of the shit has hit all of the fans.

I just wrote the best fucking paragraph/dialogue in this entire story and I can't share it with anyone because it gives away the entire plot of the story. Fuck.

These are the moments when I miss having a beta reader, tbh. But nope, not going back. Ain't got that level of trust anymore.

Also, it wouldn't be that funny out of context, I assume. So yeah, look out for chapter 15 I guess lol

It's been a while since I've given a proper update, but it's difficult to do so without spoilers.

Let's try. [Under the cut because it got long lol]

We're currently at 70k words, at the end of chapter 14. I'm not exactly sure how many there will be - when I wrote the other story, I just went with the flow and only divided the text into chapters when I was done writing. This time, I'm writing chapter by chapter because it helps me to keep the POVs balanced (hopefully).

Dallon has been a lot of fun to write so far, his journey is interesting (to me, but hopefully to you as well), he starts off as such a closed off, detached character, and by the point we are now, he's been growing and exploring his own traumatic past and the reasons that pushed him to keep everyone at arm's length. And he's learning to let people in, little by little. He is also the vertex angle of our triangle, so there's that.

Patrick's POV has been just as fun, but for different, more masochistic reasons. There's a lot going on with him and Pete, none of which I can say here because it would spoil the fun (there's no cheating, don't worry), but there's lots of angst and anger and even a big ass fight, but there's also still a lot of soulmate fluff and fighting shit together like the fucking power couple they are. At least his Alpha job has been easy so far, the pack is minding its own business and thriving in the forest.

I am also so very happy about adding a human to the mix, because the result has been so much better than I expected. Again, not much I can say about him, because he's crucial to the story and really kind of a fulcrum for both of the main storylines that are developing - which start off as parallel, but man do they clash at some point.

As far as returning characters go, we have the whole clan and pack, of course; then Mikey and Frank (Frank is a bit on the sidelines for now though), Ryan Ross, Maja, both Vicky and Billie Joe pop in briefly, and I think more will come back at some point, but we'll see. For now our new entries are Awsten Knight, Tyler Joseph and Josh Dun, but I feel like it's my civic duty to find a way to get Otto Wood in there somehow lol possibly not as a serial killer lol

So yeah, I feel like this has been a more complete and fair update, because last time I basically just threatened to kill someone off to solve the triangle (still an option, lol).

When you're writing a scene with two characters who are eventually supposed to hook up and then they're unexpectedly kissing and full on making out.

Now. Eventually is now, it seems.

Let the triangle begin, I guess lol

The scary thing is that this triangle will have to be resolved by the end and I still don't know which couple is endgame. Lowkey wondering if I would have the skill to pull off a "why choose" ending for the three of them. Alternatively, I might also kill someone off to solve it in a very heartbreaking and dramatic way.

Decisions, decisions... I say as if I had any power over these characters.

Took a break from social media, touched some grass, had people stay over at my house over the weekend.

All of which helped with my anxiety, and it also helped me focus on writing more.

We're at 60k, and I'm finally starting to figure out where this story is going. There are still details about the endgame that are foggy, but the general outline and the steps to get there are finally clearer. Not entirely clear, but clearer.

The double POV is a lot of fun, tbh, but it's also a lot of work, especially the need to keep the two POVs balanced. There are some characters that have inevitably ended up fading into the background a bit, but I'm trying to do everyone justice.

I'm still going to take my time with this, however, because otherwise it will become an additional source of stress instead of an escape from it. Bear with me, I promise I'm putting my heart in this story.
