The #ImmovableLadder of the #ChurchOfTheHolySepulchre symbolizes the complexity of the situation in Jerusalem, not only between Jews and Muslims but between Christians. The church is overseen jointly by Roman Catholic, Greek Orthodox, Armenian Apostolic, Ethiopian, and Syriac Orthodox churches, with every piece of the church and every artifact jealously and zealously guarded and argued over. The ladder was placed on the balcony some time in the first half of the 1800s, and no one is allowed to move it because no one knows which of the Christian sects put it there and moving it might provoke an argument.
