Question for any fellow spoonies out there with autoimmune disease who are on biologic infusions: has anyone else out there been switched from Remicade to Inflectra; and if so have you noticed differences, side effects, etc? Please let me know.
Gotta love it when one of those sticks-around-for-a-month bruises resembles a giant hickey 😂
Plaquenil issues
So I just started taking plaquenil and my nausea man. THE NAUSEA IS INSANE. Does this side effect go away after awhile as your body gets used to it. Tonight I'm gonna be premedicating with my compazine to see if it helps.
SPTBN2 promotes an immunosuppressive tumor microenvironment and cross-resistance to anti-cancer therapies - Research
Immunosuppressive tumor microenvironment (TME) inactivates CD8+ cytotoxic lymphocytes (CTLs). Here, we identify SPTBN2 spectrin as a key immunosuppressive regulator induced in CTLs in response to nutritional deficit. In human pancreatic and colorectal cancers, SPTBN2 expression negatively correlated with CTL infiltration and patients’ survival. In TME of mouse pancreatic and colorectal…
CD58 reshapes the immunosuppressive microenvironment in gliomas through PD-L1 upregulation - Research
Background: Cluster of Differentiation 58 (CD58), a critical immune regulator, is implicated in tumor immune evasion, yet its role in remodeling the immunosuppressive microenvironment of gliomas and regulating programmed death-ligand 1 (PD-L1) remains unclear. This study aimed to elucidate the clinical and mechanistic significance of CD58 in gliomas. Methods: This study integrated…
A new gene holds great promise to halt fungal infection in immuno-compromised people
A new gene holds great promise to halt fungal infection in immuno-compromised people #fungalinfection #Healthcare #FungalTreatment #NewGene #GeneDiscovery #NewStudy
A recently discovered gene may hold the key to halting the spread of Candidiasis fungus. Patients in the intensive care unit (ICU), those with cancer, and those undergoing immunosuppressive therapy are frequently affected by candidiasis. The CSA6 gene has been found in Candida albicans, a fungus notorious for producing high rates of morbidity and mortality over the course of cancer treatment or…

Discomfiting results in new study
Among 436 COVID-naïve participants who received a first dose of mRNA vaccine, only 17% mounted detectable antibodies to SARS-CoV-2. This is in stark contrast to immunocompetent people who were vaccinated, of whom 100% mounted detectable antibody; that was true for people who had received either the Pfizer-BioNTech or Moderna vaccine.
