I just got out of my last trauma therapy appointment today. I had a normal, non-stressful therapy appointment where it was just going over the summer. This is the first week I've been able to have appointments without a target or goal to work towards. I've dealt with my trauma this summer, and a whole bunch of toxic, controlling, and negative behaviors, coping mechanisms, and emotions.
This Started as a rough summer, but in the past 3 months, I've done mindfulness, meditating, lost weight, overcame a bunch of trauma, and overall became healthier than I've been in years. But the most important part of this summer was coming to the point where I love myself and who I am now, in the moment, as opposed to who or what could happen. I have expanded my social circle and also allowed myself to be able to relax and be by myself and be happy doing it.
This has been a summer of growth and renewal in ways I never expected I could have achieved in years as opposed to months. Today marks closing the chapters of trauma that had kept me in the past and not in the present for most.of my life. And it's also the beginning of new classes, new friends, new opportunities, and possibly the newest, healthiest me I have ever been. I know it won't always be this good, but I'm more prepared for when it does go South as opposed to where I was just a few months ago.
