COMMISSION FROM @imnotthatmatt FOR @chaosmouse
Hey girls! I hope you all had a stress-free and enjoyable holiday. I really loved the holiday special, it was so powerful. I was wondering, now that the comic's gone back to the regular timeline, will 'The Dark' be posted on the website, and if so, where?
Yes, dear! We move everything that is not part of the main storylines to the extra section. All the guest art and specials are over there. Erin from Hiveworks just moved it for us today!
---Laura
Hey, a few questions: what are the names and status's of the levels of Thronum Mare? I know the Red and what it's known for, but what are the others? I think I've heard something about the Purple being where all the nobles live. Is that true?
(PULLS IN A SHARP BREATH) My time has come.
I actually know ALL about this, because I spent, like, hours some months back questioning Ash about this. I drew fanart of it:
The proportions are off, but the information is accurate.
So TM basically goes:
The Seawall: surrounds the whole city. Coming from the beach, you have to go up its steps and pass it to get to,
The Red Ring: the most populated and poorest Ring. Contains the Pleasure District, where Maman, Oscar and Cat live. Anyone porting in TM can get to the Red Ring as long as they’ve paid the docking tax. Between the Red Ring and the next one, you’ve got a,
Barring Wall: there’s a wall between Red and Orange. Citizenry can pass by freely. Non-citizenry’s required to pay a tax. Then you have,
The Orange Ring: The Industry District, home of the city’s smithies. After that, you have,
The Yellow Ring: Textiles! Most of the middle class lives here. Catharine’s shop is also located here. Past Yellow, there’s a,
Sentry Wall: you can pass through it freely, it’s there for the Guard. Then you have,
The Green Ring: whose name says it all. Parks, green markets, yadda yadda yadda. After Green, you have another,
Barring Wall: It separates Green, the Middle Ring, from Blue, which’s the first of the Upper Rings. You also have to pay a tax to get to Rich Land. Rich Land consists of,
The Blue Ring: home of rich, important people, and of Rich Important Things, such as the Judiciary District. “But Laura,” you say. “Isn’t it stupid to have the Judiciary District, something everyone supposedly needs access to, behind a wall you need to pay to get through?” And yes, my friend. Yes, it is stupid. Now you know why Magpie didn’t very much like this city’s classist ass. After Blue, you have another,
Sentry Wall: because why not, just add more walls. And then you have,
The Indigo Ring: where nobles and Joséphine live, and then you have the,
Guard Wall: which’s really another Barring Wall surrounding castle grounds and the Guard Headquarters. Beyond it, there’s,
The Purple Ring: that holds, as previously established, castle grounds and the Guard Headquarters.
So TM’s basically like a Rainbow Onion, and the further in you go, the richer you get.
The End.
It’s been a while since I posted any art on here. This here’s a commission of @imnotthatmatt‘s adorable spark witch, Watt, from this story. This is also the first thing posted on here that I drew on my iPad Pro (got it for my birthday, it’s been pretty good for digital inking).
If you’d like someone to draw any of your characters, from a bust to a full body pic, I’m still open for commissions.
