Chapter Two: The Duo
WC: almost 3,500. TW: Fear, vague psycopathicness, injury, comfort, magic, (arson?)
After Sapnap knocked on the door, it took only a moment before the door opened, revealing George. Sapnap was instantly worried, George looked as if he’d been tormented. He had his classic goggle-like glasses on, but they had a crack in the middle. He had rope burns just barely visible on his arms. He even had some small cuts on his arms and head as well.
He had heard from George that the house was infested with a single tiny, but he didn’t know a tiny could inflict this much damage. Looking past him, he saw a decent amount of glass on the floor. George had already grabbed a broom and had swerved away a decent amount of it. “George, what happened?”
“Eh, you know, I’ve got a demon. Also known as a Tiny.” George said nonchalantly as he finished sweeping up the glass. “Don’t worry George, I’ll help you catch him.” George nodded in his direction as he crept over to the bookshelf, what was he doing?
His internal question was answered as George slammed his hand on top of the shelf, “George, what the hel-“ Sap started until he saw a small green creature leap off from that spot, laughing maniacally. “Oh what the heck!” He shouted as the Tiny swung around landing on a small table next to the front door where Sap was.
“Nice to meet ya Sapnap!” The Tiny said as George threw himself over to their position trying to catch the guy. I’m the brief seconds the Tiny stopped moving, and Sapnap got a good look at him. The Tiny had a green hoodie on, roughly sewn. He also had a small carved-out mask that was white, what the material was, Sapnap couldn’t guess.
The main difference he saw between the Tiny and George was that the Tiny seemed to be having the time of its life, while George looked as if he was in constant irritation. “Get back here Dream!” Gogy yelled as ‘Dream’ swung up to the nearest vent. “You’ll be seeing a lot more of me Sapitus Napitus.” The Tiny proclaimed before it left through the vent.
Dream was interested in seeing what Sapnap could do, he seemed a bit stronger than George, he had a white bandana wrapped around his head, slightly worn. Alongside that, he had a white almost gray shirt with a small fire with a face in the middle. There would have to be further analysis for Dream to decide the next approach.
Meanwhile, George was berating Sap. “Why were you just standing there!?” “Well, it’s not my fault you got owned by a Tiny! Speaking of, why’d you give it a name!” “I didn’t give it a name, it just told me it!” Dream chuckled as he listened, this was certainly going to be fun.
The next day…
Dream went about his next day, as usual, ready for any changes that Sapnap might bring about. He went ahead and decided to give Sapnap a nice warm welcome by pushing the alarm clock right next to his ear. “Aghhhh!” Sap groaned at 8:00 AM, “I’m up.” He said as he batted the alarm away from himself. “Wakey wakey, Sap dude!” Dream shouted at him from a shelf as he knocked down a recently placed photo of Sapnap and a hooded figure.
Sapnap then got up and tried swatting at 'Dream', but he was far too sluggish for this. 'Dream' easily got away into yet another vent. "I'm not ready for this." He muttered as he went and fastened his Bandana in the bathroom. After that he went to make some Krave cereal, George then also walked in. "How you doin Georgebeenfound?" He asked him whilst George started making some coffee. "I thought I told you not to tease me with my full name." George said despondently. "Yeah, but it's funny." Sapnap replied back while eating the freshly prepared cereal. (Cereal first, always.) Then he heard a crash.
George was annoyed, well, after moving in here he was in a perpetual state of annoyedness. But the main reason, in particular, was that Dream had swooped in and knocked over the Coffee Pot. "GOD DAMN IT DREAM." He shouted as the little sh*t swung up to the top of the fridge laughing. This tiny was so arrogant, George wished he could wipe that smug little smile off his face. Then Sapnap came over and bapped the top of the fridge with a broom. It appears neither George nor Dream really expected that, but regrettably, Dream appeared fine. If not a bit bewildered when he crawled out from under the broom at the top.
Dream was a tad bit pissed. Who did Sapnap think he was? He quickly took another leap and swung around, grabbing George's glasses again, ("Hey!") and throwing them with as much strength as he could muster at Sapnap. "Aurrrg." He grunted as Dream swung around his arms. Dream quickly grabbed at the Bandana and tightened it a bit more than it should be. "OWWW" Sapnap screeched, "Leave my bandana alone Dream!" He said as he swatted in Dream's general direction with one hand and undid the bandana with the other.
Dream swung back up to a ceiling vent and got up in there. He took a look at the chaos he had wrought, George trying desperately to tape his glasses back together so he didn't need to get new ones, again. Sapnap unfurled his Bandana, the broom abandoned on the floor. The glass that would need to be swept up that came from the coffee pot. He took a second to laugh, before quickly retreating up the vent as Sapnap glared at the vent and reached for the broom again.
“George are you alright?” He asked as George fumbled with the tape, “Yeah, just getting sick of this thing.” Sapnap nodded, “Do you want me to go get you new ones?” “No,” George said quickly. “It’s a bit too expensive, I’m almost done here.” George then pointed to another cabinet saying there was a spare pot in there. Sapnap got it out and remade the coffee. He then poured himself a cup and sat at the table, George followed soon after adjusting his newly repaired glasses.
“So, do we have any plan?” Sapnap asked George as he placed his cup on the table after taking a swig. “Not really, we could try to get some traps?” George asked half-heartedly. “Do you really think it’s stupid enough for that?” Sap asked, George thought for a moment. “No, but it’s worth a shot isn’t it?” Sap nodded, “Yeah, it’s not like it could get worse.
A few hours later…
Dream thought about his next course of action carefully, the two humans were pretty irritated with him already, so what could he do next? He ended up deciding that having them hit each other would be fairly entertaining. He looked down from the living room vent and saw George sitting on the couch with Sapnap finally taking care of the broken glass.
He then gently tied his hook around the vent grate and began lowering himself down onto George’s head, this was going to be difficult, but where’s the fun in life without a little risk? As his feet landed on George’s head amongst the forest of hair, he thought over the next bit of his plan and pulled the hook down to him, he’d need to have Sapnap notice him, but before George did. Thankfully, he didn’t need to wait long. Sapnap was staring right at him and was already prepared to strike.
Dream went ahead and made it look like he hadn’t noticed Sap, but was preparing his hook and had already grabbed a tuft of Georgie’s hair. “George, don’t move.” Sapnap said quietly as George turned his head. “Sapnap, what are you doing?” “Just hold on a sec.” Then Sapnap brought the full force of Thor’s broom onto George’s head. But Dream had already jumped and was sailing across the room whilst attached to the ceiling fan from his hook, and climbed until he was holding onto the fan blade with his hand, freeing his hook.
“OW Sapnap!” George shouted rubbing his head as this panda-loving idiot stared at the fan, “What the hell is wrong with you?” It also felt like some of his hair was pulled off, but that couldn’t be right. “George the idiots up there!” Sap yelled pointing at the ceiling fan. “Of course he is,” George grumbled staring at Dream who was spinning around like a carefree buffoon. “Dream! Come down here!” “And why would I do that?” Dream drawled from up there whilst appearing to have the time of his life.
“Because if you don’t I’ll turn up the speed!” Sapnap yelled up at the spinning green guy. He already had his hand on the switch and was ready to turn it. "Heh, do you think that intimidates m-" Dream said as Sap turned it. "WOOAH!" Dream yelped as he spun with increasing speed, it even looked like he might slip! "George, be ready to catch him!" George then stopped looking like a surprised idiot and got ready on one side, with Sap on the other.
"What now Dream!" He heard Sapnap shout from below, this was the first time Dream had encountered a ceiling fan whose speed could be changed. (Like how common are these?) He looked around searching for something, anything that could help him before he vomited and fell. The arrogance he'd had for the past week or so had evaporated as fast as Techno could swing.
Then out of the corner of his eye, he saw Sap grab something he had brought to the house, it looked like one of those party poppers he'd seen in other houses. "I got a few of these to celebrate us moving in with each other, maybe we could use it to-" But what they could use it for, George and Dream never found out. As Dream mustered up the last of his mental strength to fight through the nausea and use his hook to yank it out of Sapnap's hand which was holding it loosely.
"Hey!" Sap yelled as Dream took it and held it. He then pulled hard on the activation of the popper, and confetti swirled around the room creating a cloud obscuring these hunter's vision. "Jesus!" "Sapnap! I can't see anything!" "What and you think I can see better?" The 'hunters' fumbled about while Dream was mustering up the courage to let himself fall to the carpeted ground.
He then fell down, and the hunters didn't see. God damn did it hurt, but at least it was cushy. He crawled underneath the cyan couch and used his needle to slice a hole in the fabric underneath and pulled himself into the couch. “How much confetti was in that thing Sap!” He heard George shout, “I don’t know alright! Do you have a vacuum or something?” Dream examined his wound, but he couldn’t see too well. So he grabbed a match stick that he had strapped to his back just in case.
“By all the primes, Sapnap! The vacuum is in the closet next to the stairs.” “Well how was I supposed to know that!” George was getting annoyed, “Why on earth would it be in the backyard?” Sap took a second. “Well, I don’t know where’d you put it.” He shrugged. George was living with an imbecile. Sapnap then took the time to vacuum up the cloud of confetti that had been created. George took a glance around. He let out a sigh as he realized that Dream wasn’t visible anywhere.
Thankfully, Dream didn’t think he had broken a bone. But it still was at least sprained, so painfully he waited until it was safe to come out. It took a while for it to become safe as George and Sap spent their time in the living room watching the second Harry Potter. (Dream remembers seeing George watching the first one when Sap still wasn’t living here.) Once they went upstairs to play ‘Minecraft’, Dream walked awkwardly to the nearest floor vent.
Dream eventually got to the top of the first floor where his main base is above the living room. He takes a second to look around the place. He had some Christmas lights taped around, and had a few chairs made of fluff that he had taken from other houses. He also had a nice container filled with any spare food he had, and a leak in the ‘ceiling’ where he collected water. But something was amiss, it felt as if the place was disturbed slightly, like the fluff was slightly ruffled, and there was a small extra nibble in a cookie residing in the container. Then Dream heard a noise down the corridor and drew his needle.
Callahan was a simple borrower, he went to houses, took things, and got out. Occasionally he might stay in a house for a while if it was safe enough. He was terrified of being discovered by a Human. (Except for… don’t think about her.) So when he found that there was a nice collection of stuff inside the vents of this place, he was elated. The downside was that the humans just underneath were extremely loud, so he probably wouldn’t have stayed for long.
He had walked back into the central large vent when he saw a fellow borrower. Callahan wasn’t the best about other borrowers, he generally liked working alone. But he was a sucker for whenever anyone was injured. However ever since… that happened, he hasn’t really spoken and probably never will, which is why most borrowers don’t enjoy his company. But when he saw the green hooded figure with a mask and damaged leg, he instantly wanted to help.
However said person was also holding a needle, and he didn’t want to get stabbed. So he grabbed a paper he had torn from a notebook a few houses ago and wrote with some graphite. “Hello! My name is Callahan, I see that you are injured, may I help?” He showed it to the masked man.
“Callahan huh?” The guy asked, “Well for your information, I can take care of myse- ahhg.” The guy went as he collapsed under his injured leg. Callahan went and propped him up and examined the wound. It didn’t appear to be that bad, but it would be inhibited if not taken care of. Callahan decided to use some of his healing magic to fix it.
Healing magic, and magic, in general, are very rare traits in a borrower, and just like their existence, they kept this hidden from humans. And because of that most borrowers don’t know about it. So when he used it in front of the new guy for the first time, he was clearly mystified.
"Woah, how'd you do that?" Dream asked the Red-Nosed Borrower who apparently had literally magic hands. Callahan after a few minutes held a paper up saying that there was a chance that upon birth, borrowers could have magic. In Callahan's case, it was healing magic. Dream was in awe, imagine how much he could do to the Humans with actual MAGIC. He then noticed that Callahan had asked, (On a paper.) what his name was. "Dream, my name is Dream.”
The next day Dream was prepared to go out and light Sap’s hair on fire. But Callahan stopped him. “Dream, that’s too reckless.” Callahan wrote. “But Callahan, it’s very fun!” Dream protested. “And how did you hurt your leg again?” Callahan wrote. “Ok, I got a bit cocky that time, but I promise it won’t happen again!” Callahan made a stern noise, “C’mon! You haven’t even seen how good I am.”
Callahan supposed that was true, after all, the injury wasn’t that bad. But it was still dangerous. “Please? Just watch me, you don’t have to participate.” Callahan resigned and wrote “Fine, I’ll watch.” The mask didn’t cover Dream’s whole face, so his wide smile after Callahan agreed was clearly visible, and made Callahan a bit excited to see what his skills were. After all, his hook was very interesting.
Dream lured Callahan from the vent, carried him with one arm, (Granted Callahan wasn’t very heavy), and swung them down to a shelf nearby the couch. “Alright Cal,” Dream started. “Watch and learn.” Dream cracked his knuckles and took a running start. Callahan was tempted to stop him, but his curiosity got the best of him. And so he watched with shock, horror, and excitement as Dream went plummeting to the floor, and swung with his hook to the kitchen, where the Humans were.
Dream was excited to show off his abilities to a fellow borrower, but when he took his running start, he silently prayed to prime that this wouldn’t go wrong. He jumped off and almost instinctively launched his hook as he fell and swung to the kitchen and focused on the two colossal humans. “OOOOOHH GEORGE! OOOH, SAPNAP!” Dream yelled as he swung just above Sap’s head.
Sapnap turned his head slightly upward, but Dream was already descending rapidly, as he fell he struck the match against the rope. But just before he landed on Sap’s head, he stopped his descent and touched the lit match to his head. “G-GEORGE! HELP ME!” Sapnap Screeched as he batted Dream away. “I’ll get the water!” George quickly grabbed a cup and filled it with water, meanwhile, Sap was running in circles around the room.
Dream swung onto the top of the fridge yet again and watched, George doused the fire with the water putting it out. “What the hell?!” George said generally. “What is wrong with you Dream?” Dream just laughed, “I mean, it was pretty funny though.” Sapnap was seething with partially burned hair. “I’m gonna kill you Dream!” He then grabbed the belt off his pants and tried to smack Dream on the fridge. But his efforts were in vain as Dream swooped away, but not before taking George’s glasses.
“STOP! I need those!” Dream then tossed them into the disposal built into the sink and landed gracefully on the counter next to the switch. George held his hands out pleading with him, “No, do-“ then Dream pulled the switch activating the disposal. The sound of broken glass being ground filled the room, alongside George’s groan. “Oh my god!” Dream then swung away with Sap trying to bat him out of the sky, but failed as Dream disappeared into a vent above the shelf.
“Quickly Callahan, and we disappear.” Dream grabbed Callahan by the onesie and took him into the vent, he was filled with awe at what had just happened. (And maybe a bit of guilt as well.) But it was still cool as shit. He had so many questions that if he wasn’t a mute, Dream would get thoroughly annoyed.
Callahan spent a decent while asking questions about Dream, like where he got his hook, and who taught him how to swing like that. You know, things of that nature. Dream answered them proudly, "Well, I got the hook from Technoblade, and learned how to swing from him too!" Dream told Callahan all about what he learned from Techno, leading to a bit of quality bonding time.
Meanwhile, Sapnap decided to call his Dad. "Are you sure calling Bad is a good idea?" George asked as he dialed his Dad's number. "I mean, we know he's sympathetic for these creatures-" But Sap cut him off, "George, first of all, a sweet, tender guy like Bad could convince our little Demon to go away. And secondly, there is a good chance that he'll hate Dream anyway because he SET MY HEAD ON FIRE." Sap emphasized. "Fair enough." George said, and that was that.
"Hey, Bad?" Sap asked the phone, "Yeah I know it's been a bit, but me and George need your help." Sapnap then told Bad all about their predicament. Sap hung up, "He's on his way, I think he'll probably be staying with us for a bit." George perked up for a moment, "Wait, so does that mean?' Sap knew what he wanted to know, "Yes, he's bringing his cat too."
A few hours later...
A knock was heard at the door, Dream wanted to greet this newcomer, he'd heard Sap talking to them over the phone. "You shouldn't do anything immediately Dream." Callahan wrote, "Three humans are too dangerous, at least get some more reconnaissance." "Ok, fine, let's see who this is first." Dream replied, they were watching from the same bookshelf he had watched Sap enter from. He watched Sap begin to open the door, and wondered who they were in for...
