Here's some fun challenges to help improve your writing skills!
-Try to transcribe actual real-life conversations (with permission of course). It helps if you record the conversation and then try to write it all out later.
-Describe a tree/flower without using colors
-Unsummarize something. Find a random summary of something online and try to expand upon it as much as you can.
-Find a random episode of something you've never watched and play the whole thing without any sound/captions. Then try to describe what happened in that episode. What were people saying? What were people doing? What other non-conversation sounds were there? Now rewatch it with sound and see how close you were.
-Find a picture of a random person online and characterize them. Who are they? What do they do? Are they fun at parties?
-Create a character. (or take a character you already created) Now write 5 letters to that character, each from a different person. A family member, a friend, a lover, an enemy and a stranger.
-Take your favorite show/movie and rewrite it in a different genre (this one is purely for practice, obviously you'd never be able to put this out as your own work.)
-Take a scroll through Tumblr/Instagram/Whatever. The first 10 non-human pictures you come across now have to be used to create a world.
