Terror module busted in J&K, 2 arrested with arms and ammunition | India News - Times of India
JAMMU: Security forces on Saturday busted a terror module in Mendhar area in J&K’s Poonch district and arrested two overground workers from Balakote during surveillance. A huge cache of arms and ammunition sent from Pakistan-occupied Kashmir was recovered from them. “Based on intelligence inputs about the movement of couriers of arms, ammunition and explosives along with other subversive material, the anti-terror operation was launched jointly by Army, J&K’s Police’s special operations group and Mendhar Police to intercept them. The material they were carrying was meant to be ferried from the forward area to the hinterland for subversive activities,” Jammu IGP Mukesh Singh said. The recovery included three Chinese pistols, six pistol magazines, 70 pistol rounds, 11 hand grenades, a wireless set, an improvised explosive device (IED), two batteries, two flags, a mobile phone and charger, a pen drive and other material related to IEDs. “The consignment was sent from POK,” IGP Singh added. “Further investigation into the case is underway to unearth channels and network used for spreading terror in J&K,” Poonch SSP Ramesh Angral said. Earlier on August 31, a joint team of Army and police had busted a Lashkar-e-Taiba module and arrested three affiliates from Mahore in J&K's Reasi district. On August 8, J&K Police busted another Lashkar module and arrested five associates in the course of the investigation of an youth arrested with Rs 1.5 lakh on July 19. Read the full article
