Fan stared at herself in the mirror, her body loose from stretching, making sure nothing would be revealed before it was time. She hated what she was doing, but the picture on the mirror of the bright eyed little girl looking back at her was all the motivation she needed. She had to take care of her, give her a better life.
The music died down as the noise from the crowd grew, a quick swallow to calm her nerves. She knew she was up next.
"And now, welcome to the stage our feature dancer....Athena Grace!"
The lights lowered as she made her way to the stage, the adrenaline starting to course through her as the crowd cheered for her. She had worked her way up to become a feature dancer, years of ballet and gymnastics put to work for her on the pole, making her the most sought after dancer in Yorktown. But none of it mattered. You're only as good as your last dance.
Fan took her place moments before the song began. Dangerous Night, classical music. But it was what she danced best to.
